AIR Houston
Would anyone be interested in getting together a group for AIR Houston? For those unfamiliar, AIR is a one-day event where dev teams build a site for a non-profit in 8 hours and compete with other teams based on the accessibility of their site. I have participated in the past, and it is kind of fun.
I think they are still working on the site for this year's competition, but I thought I'd plant the seed now. The events probably won't start until September, so there is plenty of time to think about it

If anyone from LA Drupal, or our neighboring groups, has submitted a Core Developer Summit presentation then please comment here. I'd like to get a sense of who else made a submission. Maybe we can sit together and represent L.A. Drupal Devs some.
My submission is titled "Encourage more usage of PHP Interfaces In Drupal" and the slides are available at: http://www.slideshare.net/ccharlton/drupalcon-developer-summit-2010-ligh...

Hi all,
Firstly a very Happy New Year to you all!
I'd like to get the Drupal Brighton meetings up and running again and I need your feedback.
I've been reading about how Drupal Atlanta are organising their 2010 meetings (http://www.mediacurrent.com/blogs/best-practices-planning-your-2010-drup...) and would like to follow what they're doing.
Atlanta meet every third Tuesday which we might as well do as Tuesdays at http://theskiff.org are the 'BrightArray' software meetups, so the format would be something along the lines of this:
7-8pm general networking

DrupalSouth Wellington will be on Saturday and Sunday 23-24 January 2010 – just after LCA. Note that these are not the dates announced earlier this week on Twitter and a few other places (We were were missing some information we thought we had).
The venue is in central Wellington and is amazing! It is just a few hundred metres from Linux.conf.au and the Wellington Convention Center. Keep listening for the announcement sometime in the next two weeks – as soon as contracts are signed and deposits are paid.
Our sponsors have partnered with us to help make DrupalSouth the biggest Drupal event ever in NZ. They are;
- .nz – who bring you great .nz domains like
*.geek.nz - Catalyst IT – Specialists in Open Source Technologies
- Egressive – Drupal development, Linux support and hosting
We still have space for plenty more sponsorship – please get in touch if you want to be a part of NZ's greatest Drupal event.
We've confirmed attendance of our featured and keynote speakers from overseas;
- Angela Byron (webchick), Drupal 7 core maintainer
- Emma Jane Hogbin, (emmajane), co-author of Front End Drupal, uber-documenter & Drupal evangelist
- Addisun Berry, (add1sun), Drupal documentation lead

Adobe's annual MAX conference is taking place this October 4-7th in Los Angeles, CA. I will be presenting three Drupal related sessions at this conference for Adobe. Most of my sessions show people how to customize Drupal 6 through themes, modules, and its administration. My sessions are 1-1.5hrs, with one session being a lab (BYOL: Bring Your Own Laptop Lab).
Adobe MAX is a paid conference, and has something like over 200 sessions. Early bird discount still available (as of this writing).
My sessions are:
- Customizing Drupal Using Dreamweaver - skill: Beginner - Learn how to install Drupal, a robust, full-featured web content management system, and publish your first pages. You'll be guided through common designer workflows using Drupal and learn how to customize Drupal theme templates. When this lab is complete, you'll be able to take your new skills back to work and be more productive.
- Exploring Web Content Management Systems from a Designer's Perspective - skill: Beginner - Watch an expert guide you through a selection of today's popular web content management systems and learn which one is right for you. This session will include detailed demonstrations of WordPress, Drupal, and the Adobe InContext Editing service in action, covering installation and publishing.
- Learn to Rock Drupal Using Dreamweaver - skill: Beginner - Explore the functionality of Drupal from a designer's perspective while learning about the most common workflows. Learn how to integrate Drupal with Dreamweaver and how to use Creative Suite 4 Web Premium to customize Drupal theme templates.
I have presented at MAX before, and attended twice. This conference is huge. Last year 5,000 attendees ran around chatting Flash, Flex, AIR, Photoshop, After Effects, everything Adobe. One of the new things Adobe has done at MAX is run un-conferences inside the main conference building. Last year there were four un-conferences going on all week inside MAX, adding to the already hundreds of sessions. This year I am involved with the Web CMS theme of the conference, promoting Drupal & PHP. Some of you know my Drupal Dreamweaver extensions and Theme Starter desktop software, so I am glad to be exclusively covering Drupal in my talks this year. One session covers the different approaches in Web CMS software like Wordpress & Drupal. For that session I will be sharing the stage for that session with a Wordpress counterpart. I hope that session turns into a feature flinging match as it'll help me get caught up with Wordpress limitations.
I'd like to promote the MAX conference to the Drupal community, and at the same time ask who is already planning to attend. We can meet up and rep Drupal together.

I'm helping with the website for the host committee for AA's 75th anniversary in San Antonio in 2010. The event will require around 5000 volunteers to accommodate the 60,000 recovering drunks hitting the Alamo City next July. The organizers would like for volunteers to be able to sign up for time slots for different jobs.
For example, 60 volunteers are needed for the Tuesday 1pm-3pm Hotel Lobby Greeters slot. Once 60 volunteers sign up, that slot should not be available any more, unless someone drops it.
Modules recommendations/sanity check for edu. group site
Hi,
I am building a Drupal 6 website for my amateur radio emergency service club. One of our key missions is training (educating) others, so I am trying to build a useful online resource for our members, and others who visit our site. I have built several stand alone drupal sites, before but am now branching out into group sites. In this case we have several groups linked by location (e.g. a specific city) or interest. I need advice in planning a few key features.
