CiviCRM book writing sprint

As many of you may know (http://civicrm.org/node/532), there is going to be a CiviCRM book writing sprint in California on a new FLOSS publication for CiviCRM during the week of May 4, 2009. But even you can't make it to those sunny climes, you can have your say on what they should be writing...

As CiviCRM integrators, admins, and users, please feel free to review and add topics to the draft book outline here:

Washington DC CiviCRM Meetup this Wednesday!

Hi folks,

Just a quick reminder that the DC CiviCRM Meetup will hold it's first meeting this Wednesday, April 22nd from 6:30pm to 8:00pm at The Black Squirrel in Adams Morgan. We will have a Speed Show and Tell, giving each presenter 5 minutes to give a visual or spoken presentation about what they are doing with CiviCRM. This is a great opportunity to come
out and learn about the CiviCRM project, how people are using the system within their organizations, and meet other CiviCRM users and developers in the DC/VA/MD area. If you would like to present, please come prepared with a laptop.

CiviCRM events in SF 4/29-30/09

On the CiviCRM home page http://www.civicrm.org there are two event listings. I have already registered for the Developer Camp, but the User Meetup sounds good too.

Anyone else planning to go to either of these? They're taking place just after the NTEN conference, which I am not going to, but other people might already be in SF.

Who else in PEG is using / interested in using CiviCRM?

We're using CiviCRM to handle all of our membership, class registration and other CRM needs here at Denver Open Media. We're planning to integrate it with the Open Media Project, but not make it a dependency. I'm curious who else is already using it / looking to use it, and maybe we can start sharing our different configurations.

Integrating CiviCRM for online School Directory

Does anyone have (or know of) experience integrating CiviCRM into a school portal (website), such that students and parents can self-manage their contact information for use by the school and/or school PTO?

Today in Newton Public Schools, we have 21 different school sites, with none of them sharing any user login or contact information between them. My vision is to integrate the 21 sites into a single instance of CiviCRM, so they can share user login and contact information across them.
