DrupalCamp

Desde que a un par de drupalperos se les ocurrió decir que "Drupal es más que un CMS", me ha tocado organizar tres conferencias de Software Libre con tal de dar mayor espacio a exponer Drupal en Perú. Hasta que al fin, el pasado Sábado 28 de Noviembre tuvimos nuestro primer DrupalCamp peruano de forma independiente. Es un éxito compartido por todos aquellos que colaboraron en este proceso de ya 19 meses, y que marca un hito muy importante en nuestra meta de tener un DrupalCon Perú algún día.

Hi everyone, there's a few people that have been trying to organize a location for Drupal Camp 2010. So far, we have it happening sometime in May, most likely Thurs/Fri May 28-29th.

Anyway, we have been investigating Venues, but haven't had a good fit for our criteria, so I would like to ask if anyone has some ideas about venues if they could email me at phillip [at] agentic.ca, especially if they have some ideas around getting a venue donated.

Here's our criteria:

1) Space for about 200 people
2) 4-5 breakout rooms for about 30-40 people at once
3) Awesome wifi

It seems like quite a few of us are going to DrupalCamp Vienna. I counted seven familiar faces with a total of seven presentations. That's a fifth of all presentations at the DrupalCamp. Nice one!

I'll be taking the overnight train from Zurich, on Thu 26.11.09, 22:40. Anybody else on that particular train?

Dans la ville où Drupal est né, Kristof Van Tomme (l'organisateur de la DrupalCon Szeged) rassemble la crème des Drupalers de Flandre durant deux jours.

Les sessions se dérouleront majoritairement en anglais et le programme définitif sera communiqué le 1er décembre prochain.

La qualité des interventions, que l'on pressent exceptionnelle, a provoqué un "sold out" au bout d'une dizaine de jours seulement... Mais une solution sera certainement trouvée dans les prochains jours.

Questo evento ha lo scopo di mettere in comunicazione persone che utilizzano Drupal (a qualsiasi livello) e di favorire lo scambio di opinioni e di conoscenze, permettendo a tutti di contribuire.

On What should be the next step for this group?, the Director of Events for the Drupal Association wrote:

> First you need to identify your market and all of the interested parties therein.
Then you need to look at the events that have been held and evaluate them.
Then you should have some more events.
After a few rounds of this, there should be something to talk about.

I think it would be important to open a discussion about Cary's suggestion on the group's next steps. That is to say, experience with medium-sized events like national DrupalCamps, as the essential road to the international DrupalCon. Members of this group who are DrupalCamp organisers -like Bevan and Ryan- have been too humble to open a thread like this, but let's start it anyway... ;)

La muchachada brasilera ya se está preparando para proponer el DrupalCon en Brasil para el año que viene.

Personalmente me encanta Brasil, y luego de las tareas que hicimos aquí con el Drupalcamp puedo decir que no es sencillo organizar un evento, y mucho menos uno de carácter internacional que se espera que supere a los anteriores.

Es por ello que mi opinión personal es la de apoyar la organización en Brasil (el que además sirva de mini vacación no tiene nada que ver!!! ;p
