Come learn about Drutopia - Drupal as a Service - A framework for an ecosystem of open source distributions
July is a month to celebrate Drupal! Why? - do we need a reason?
While the regular monthly meetup is resuming in August, we felt that July needed a good reason to get together and talk Drupal code and config.
There is a mission to build a Drupal as a Service full featured distribution of Drupal for organizing and campaigns. There is NationBuilder and other proprietary tools that are available, but why not a Drupal solution?

Hey'a NYC Drupalers! I know many of you have helped out in campaigns or know a thing or two about the new media we're dealing in. So why not check out RootsCamp NYC!
So many people at all levels are discovering amazing innovations in organizing, using technology to make a difference, and adapting to newmedia habits. It doesn't make sense for a post-election debrief to exclude the local union activists, precinct captains, heads of a local parties, or other activists who are kicking ass in a bold new way. That's why we want you to attend Rootscamp NYC on Saturday, 18 November 2006.
I know it's a little odd advertising an event that needs a venue, but RootsCamp NYC needs some 'roots lovin. We need 4 - 5 rooms that can host 25 - 30 people. If you know of anyone in the city who has access to a location that's close to public transportation (Union Hall, University, Office Space, etc.), please forward this message with a personalized note and asking them to call me.

Last month, the NYPD attempted to change the rules on sidewalk usage and the right to freely assemble.
http://assembleforrightsnyc.blogspot.com/2006/08/response-to-nypd-withdr...
Through a successful grassroots campaign, we were able to convince the NYPD to rescind their rule's change, but the fight is not over! This month, we will be launching a campaign petitioning the city council to adopt legislation protecting our right to freely assemble and speak freely.
I am wondering if you are interested in helping us. We need a network of designers, programmers, and bloggers to promote our message and run our website. Starting small we need a designer to create graphics, an admin to run our Drupal site, and a network admin or programmer to help us institute a broadcast SMS system. On Wed - 13 September, we will be launching a basic site to promote our draft legislation. Once our campaign is launched we need bloggers to promote our message.
If you are interested please email Noel Hidalgo at noel(a/t)nonecknoel.com.
