Welcome to VANDUG!
The Vancouver Drupal Users Group (VanDUG) is the local meeting place for Greater Vancouver people interested in Drupal. We were formerly known as the Vancouver League of Drupalers, but that's a long story.
The group mostly hangs out on Slack at https://vandug.slack.com/. We also post our meetings on Meetup.com at https://www.meetup.com/Vancouver-Drupal-Users-Group. All are welcome, it's listed as a private group to keep out the griefers.
We've been holding semi-regular virtual meetings during COVID-19.

Vancouver Drupal Bug Hunt report
I personally didn't squash any bugs at the Vancouver Drupal 5 Bug Hunt but I had a blast munching on the pizza provided by Bryght and drinking the beer that Lyal brought. There was even a little bit of Xbox action going on too!
I installed Drupal 5 Beta 2 (kudos on the improved installer, not having to edit settings.php is a good thing, the only problem I had was the wrong permissions on my directories). I also love the revamped admin interface. Much more logical for newcomers to Drupal methinks although it will be hard to defeat my 4.5/4.6/4.7 URL and interface "muscle memory"!

Give the gift of a Drupal 5 release candidate this holiday season by fixing bugs!
The Vancouver League of Drupaliers is answering the call and organizing a Drupal 5 bug hunt!
Drupal 5 is in beta 2 and will be released when all the critical bugs are dealt with. There's also non-critical bugs and each one fixed makes Drupal 5 a better release. Your help, regardless of whether you're new or a ninja, makes the release happen at the best quality possible. (More about the ways you can help here: http://drupal.org/drupal-5.0-beta2)
What's in it for you?

Fellow Vancouver Drupal users...
robertDouglass has thrown down the gauntlet for user groups the world over. As a hotbed of Drupal activity, can we be left behind?
With the impending Drupal User Group meetup coming around the corner, I'd like to organize a session for playing with the 5.0 release.
Not a coder? New to Drupal? You can still contribute! I will be around to help any users who need non-coding tasks (and believe me, these are both abundant and essential).
I will be sitting in #drupal-vancouver on irc.freenode.net. You can also contact me over jabber @ lyal.avery@gmail.com

display nodes as blocks
I built my first module that might actually be useful to someone else. Check out nodeblock at http://drupal.org/node/93339
Because Drupal's more fun when everything is a node! ;)
