The 2006, with the explosions of huge video based community websites such as Youtube, has shown how video contents are becoming one of the most direct and cool to use web communication approach.
Drupal, as a leading open source content management platform, absolutely needs a good and globally accepted video content approach.
This group aims to get ideas and coordinating efforts between the different people involved in the video content development. The goal is to provide drupal with an easy, powerful and extensible support for videos.
Video module 7.x-2.1-alpha2, what you should know?
Original post : http://heididev.com/video-module-7x-2x-what-you-should-know
I released video module 7.x-2.1-alpha2 version on 11th of Sep. This major version completely redesign the video module and its core, I'm the only one worked on this release and seems our co-maintainers (6.x) had no time to contribute code to the 7.x yet. I'm very very happy about the progress of downloading and using video module. It has over 10,500+ usage now.
In this article I'm going to examine some new features added to the video module.

I've recently finished a big video project, hoping to be the next big YouTube. I'm hoping they are too. In the process I encountered a host of different challenges as you do with any new project. I thought I'd share some of the critical success variables back with the community. Hopefully, I'll help you avoid some of the growing pains I suffered through.

What do you think of adding a "title" field to the video field - similar to how the image module adds the "title" field to itself?

I've been pulling out my hair trying to figure this out, hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.
I have the Video module 7-2.7 enabled with an upload field on a video content type. I am only uploading MP4s (so no ffmpeg conversions). After upload and save I started with video.js 7-2.2 ( for the player. Works great except on iPod/pads. The play button isn't clickable.
So, I switch to JW Player 7-1.0-alpha1 and I get an error telling me that the video has an error and can't be played on the iPad. So, I re-encode it and upload it again. Still get that error.

Please help, Im about the pull off my hair and already eating my nails with this problem.
Server: Ubuntu 12.04
Web Server: Apache 2.2.22
I have also compiled and installed and enabled Apache Modules; the mod flv module from http://tperspective.blogspot.com/2009/02/apache-flv-streaming-done-right..., as well as the H264 streaming module from http://h264.code-shop.com/trac/wiki/Mod-H264-Streaming-Apache-Version2. I was hoping that these Apache modules would be the fix to my problem, which did not.
My workstation is Linux and Im using Avidemux for encoding my video files.

Read moreIs Drupal Ever going to get with it when it comes to Video
Drupal is already such a powerful system but sometimes I am just amazed at how little progress it has made when it comes to being able to play videos and stuff. You have to go through a million different modules, read a million different installation guides, find the correct version. etc.. it's so aggravating.
In Wordpress all of this is so simple. Anyway, that is my rant... and now my question is has anyone been able to get the Video Module working with Drupal 7.14?? If so, WOULD YOU MIND TO PLEASE SHARE?
Read moreAmazon S3 upload - missing in latest Video module?
Hi all,
Has S3 upload support gone missing from the latest release of the Video module? We just updated to Video 7.x-2.6 and there's no sign of the Output file base field in the Transcoder tab. It was there when we were running an earlier dev release. All requirements (Libraries module, Zencoder php library, etc) are present and were working just fine prior to the video module upgrade.

Hello
I am new to drupal and do not have a coding background experience.
I am uploading a lot of video-audio files to www.archive.org
I would like to play or embed video and audio files in my website.
each new added post to the website should include:
- Video Player to play the file hosted in www.archive.org
- Audio Player to play the file hosted in www.archive.org
- Links for downloading the other media (video-audio) containers as .avi, .mp4, ogv, .flv, .mp3, .ogg.
I've added all my taxonomies with its associated vocabularies and terms.
Video Content Type for Both Locally Hosted and External Video Services
I'm making decisions on how to build a video site. I have tried Drupal 7 but can't get it to work unless I use Amazon S3 and Zencoder each time. But still I would have to upload so much data from Australia as we have thousands of videos to upload and its too costly from here, and then encoding thousands of hours with zencoder will also cost a fair bit. So I can get results it seems with drupal 6, video, swftools and now I want to also be able to include content on sites like youtube, blip.tv etc. How would one do this?
Read moreRestrict direct download of the video file
Hi,
I'm currently using Video module 6.x-4.x-dev with Zencoder and Amazon S3.
Is there any way to restrict direct download of video file? My users will be authenticated in order to see the video page but I wonder if there is any way to make the video more like streaming which is not downloadable?
If streaming (with streaming server) is the only option here, is there any good solution that works with Drupal?
Thanks,
