This group is for everyone living in the DC metro area who's interested in Drupal. You can post here about anything relating to DC and Drupal, whether that's local job postings, events, or just a call out to talk shop over beers.

We have a great meetup every month where we get together to connect in person. The target audience is Drupal developers, users, and people who want to learn more about Drupal. We start the meetups with a round of very focused lightning talks that discuss real world solutions to existing problems, new work people have done, and Drupal news. Some of these talks are about code, and some are not. We do ask that all presenters talk on a level that everyone - including non-developers - can follow. After the talks, we chat over beer, and maybe play a few games of foosball.
We're open to ways to improve the meetups and this group, so speak up if you have ideas!
DISCUSS: Noncompete agreements for contractors or employees
I would be curious to get your feedback regarding the non-compete agreements that companies often have employees or contractors sign. Many of us doing work in Drupal run across these all the time. Although some protection for the company seems fair, some agreements I have seen seem to go way too far and seem to prevent someone from making a living.

Hey everyone - August 1 at the National Harbor in DC the DMAW/AFPDC is throwing a developer conference covering a wide range of tech in the nonprofit space, including a session on Drupal and Drupal migrations by Greg Schnippel and Tim Cullen. The one day event will also have talks on responsive design, the facebook api, and how other nonprofits setup their tech infrastructure and workflow. Daniel Ryan, lead front end developer from the 2012 Obama campaign, will keynote and talk about the tech stack that handled their online engagement strategies.

LLC or S-Corp for individual consultant?
Realizing that I'm unlikely to get professional legal advice, I was just wondering what choices other consultants have made.
For my current role, I need to incorporate. I am providing Web Development and Drupal consulting under contract.
So far I am planning to create an S-Corp since I would be the sole shareholder/employee.
Also, I plan to incorporate in NJ where I live - I am working for a company in NYC with its corporate HQ in GA.
