This group is for everyone living in the DC metro area who's interested in Drupal. You can post here about anything relating to DC and Drupal, whether that's local job postings, events, or just a call out to talk shop over beers.
You can also find us in a couple of other places:
- Group on Meetup.com for events (they handle events better, with reminder emails and whatnot)
- Group on groups.drupal.org for discussions and job posts (that's here)
- #drupal-dc on freenode
- @DrupalDC on Twitter
We have a great meetup every month where we get together to connect in person. The target audience is Drupal developers, users, and people who want to learn more about Drupal. We start the meetups with a round of very focused lightning talks that discuss real world solutions to existing problems, new work people have done, and Drupal news. Some of these talks are about code, and some are not. We do ask that all presenters talk on a level that everyone - including non-developers - can follow. After the talks, we chat over beer, and maybe play a few games of foosball.
We're open to ways to improve the meetups and this group, so speak up if you have ideas!

Dulles Corridor Drupal Users Group Meeting
[Note!! Date originally was the 23rd, but now is the 16th.]
It's already been a year since we had a Drupal meeting in the Dulles Corridor! We'll try to make this a more regular event (which will be one of our discussion topics). This meeting will be in Reston Town Center, at the American Tap Room, a nice restaurant/bar with, of course, a great selection of beers on tap, but also food and drink for those hungry or preferring non-alcoholic drinks. Upon entering, turn left and go all the way back to a rectangular section that has been reserved for us.

Monthly Drupal Meetup at Stetson's: Oct 8, 2012
(I thought I had posted this already—sorry about that!)
Our regular monthly meetup will be next Monday, the 8th, at Stetson's on U st. As always, we'll be in the upstairs bar, and we'll do some lightning talks and hang out for a bit. Last month, Ted Spencer proposed we do a "stump the expert" style panel, for "How would I do X in Drupal?" type questions. He's offered to moderate again this month (if he's able to make the event), so that might be happening after the lightning talks.

Drupal Ladder sprint at Bixal
Join us for the next Drupal Ladder sprint at Bixal in Fairfax!
The quick version: the Drupal Ladder is an initiative aimed at raising the number of drupal.org users who contribute to the Drupal core. We're doing two types of events to raise this percentage: lean sprints, where we work through lessons; and issue sprints, where we work on core Drupal issues.
This will be a Learn sprint, so we will be working through lesson on the Drupal ladder here:

Drupal Ladder sprint at APCO
Update: Let's do an issue sprint! Bring your laptop and we'lll work on some core Drupal issues. The only real prerequisite is that you know how to use Drupal, though it will be helpful to get through the first three ladder rungs (down at the bottom) so your local environment is setup before you arrive. We will help everyone find an issue they can work on, so don't you worry about that.
Read moreNext Drupal Ladder sprint: issue or learn sprint?
Real quick:
Should our next Drupal Ladder sprint be a learn sprint, or an issue sprint?
For the newcomers: a learn sprint is where we all work through lessons on DrupalLadder.org to learn something new. An issue sprint is where we get to work on core Drupal issue from drupal.org.
We had a few learn sprints and then a few issue sprints. I thought maybe another learn sprint would be a good idea, but wanted to hear other opinions. Post your opinion soon: this is taking place next Thursday at APCO, and I'd like to finalize it by this Tuesday evening.

Co-working in DC?
I've been waiting for someone else to post about this, but that's no way to get anything done, so:
Is anyone else in the DC metro area interested in doing Drupal co-working days? I know I'm not the only one around here that works from home.
I think that the first thing we need to do is gauge interest and get a ballpark number of people who might attend, so that we can then find a suitable space for us. To that end, go ahead and comment here if you're into it, even if you just say +1.

The next DC issue sprint will be this Thursday, at the APCO offices right by Metro Center station. Please note that I won't be able to attend this one, so Tom Ogden will be leading the charge.
