This group is for everyone living in the Gainesville area who's interested in Drupal. You can post here about anything relating to Gainesville and Drupal, whether that's events, local job postings, or just a call out to talk shop over beers. To receive alerts about these events, join the group.
Meetups focus on connecting people. The target audience is Drupal developers, users, and people who want to learn more about Drupal. We start the meetups with a round of very focused lightening talks that discuss real world solutions to existing problems and Drupal news. These presentations don’t discuss code – anyone with a technical background can understand them.

looking for volunteers
We're open to ways to improve these events and this group, so speak up if you have ideas!
Gainesville Drupal Users Group: Thurs, Feb 21st at 7pm
**Please note that this meeting is delayed one week due to Valentines Day**
1. Sass, Compass & Integration via the Zen & Omega base themes
Sass is an extension of CSS3, adding nested rules, variables, mixins, selector inheritance, and more. It’s translated to well-formatted, standard CSS using the command line tool or a web-framework plugin such as Compass. Mike Herchel will give a presentation on both SASS and Compass, and how they integrate into theming Drupal through either Zen, Omega, or a do-it-yourself theme!

2. Views Plugins Universe
The ubiquitous Views module has [seemingly] hundreds off plugin modules that extend it to the limits. Brandon Ratzloff will explain and demo various plugin modules and how to bend Views/Drupal to your every whim.

3. Sheetnode Presentation
Sheetnode integrates the JavaScript spreadsheet engine SocialCalc as a new node type in Drupal. Martin Boecken will walk our group thought the ins and outs of this module.

In addition, we'll have
- A [free] 20 minute Drupal beginner session/training for any newbies that attend
- A rundown of the top X Drupal modules - this is always one of our favorites
- Roundtable discussion - What have you done or learned in the last month that's worth showing off?
- A happy-hour / social event afterwards - probably at Harry's or The Top (both are within walking distance)! This'll give us a chance to nerd-talk over a beer or three :)
Details:
- When: Thurs February 21st, 2013 7pm-9pm EDT
- Where: the Alachua County Downtown Libary (401 East University Ave) Click for Map.
- Room: We'll be in the Foundation Room, which is up the stairs and to the left (follow the wall until you see the sign. Ask for help if needed).

Hey Everyone,
Who's onboard for having a semi-regular weekly webdev/Drupal lunch? Here's what I'm thinking:
- We can decide on what day fits everyone best.. this will be flexible
- We can alternate restaurants based on what everyone feels like
- Informal. No presentations or anything. We just sit and discuss whatever we feel like
- No attendance or anything like that. Friends and family are welcome to come!
- Not necessarily Drupal (or Drupal people) only... we can discuss whatever the hell we want :)
- If you miss the current week, no worries. Meet next week!
My reasoning is that I don't have anyone here at work that I can talk drupal/web/nerd to.
Plus, I made this freaking fantastic logo! :)

Gainesville Drupal Users Group: Thurs, Jan 10th at 7pm
This is 2013's inaugural meetup! Come join the fun, learn Drupal and have a few beers!
1. Arbitrarily Sorting Content: NodeQueue vs. Draggable Views
Are you looking for a way to arbitrarily order your data? Do you need to do any of the following?
- Sort your slideshow pictures into an order that only makes sense to you
- Put your ecommerce products in a specfic order
- Organize your FAQs the way that you want them
Within the Drupalverse, there are two popular ways to do this: NodeQueue and Draggable Views. Both have different but similar feature-sets. In this presentation, Mike Herchel will walk you through the pros and cons, configurations and use-cases of each module.

July 2012 Gainesville Drupal Meetup Wrapup
I just got back from a great meetup earlier this evening at the Alachua County Library Headquarters in downtown Gainesville.
We had a great turnout, and covered several topics including a presentation on responsive design in Drupal using both the Omega (http://drupal.org/project/omega/) and Zen (http://drupal.org/project/zen/) base-themes. We also covered rolling our own using CSS3 media queries in addition to data-driven mapping in Drupal, and growing the size of the group.
We talked a bit about our group reaching out and growing, and came to a couple changes:
1) New time for our meetup. This will now be at 7pm (same location)
2) We'll be doing a social happy hour afterwards - probably at Harrys or the Top (both within walking distance)
3) We're also going to be doing a bit of reach-out/networking with other users groups starting with the Gainesville Web Developers meetup (http://meetup.gnvwebdev.com/) this Monday. This is a great group of people, and I've attended this meetup several times and learned a bunch.
See everyone this Monday at the web dev meetup and then August 9th, 2012 back at our normal spot (7pm)!

The Gainesville Drupal Users Group will be meeting this Thursday 6pm at the downtown Alachua County Library. We'll be meeting in the Foundation Rm (ask a libarian if you need help locating it).
This week, we'll be talking about several topics including responsive design using various sub-themes. In addition, the illustrious Roland Riddell will be giving a quick demo of tinynav.js, which is a Jquery libary that facilitates responsive design. I'd also like to talk about several responsive design patterns and solutions- specifically formatting megamenus. If anyone has any solution, I'm all ears!
We'll also discuss current projects, blockers, Gators, and other things!
All newbies and ninjas are welcome!
