The Grand Rapids Drupal User Group (GRupal) is a collection of developers, designers, content managers, and businesspeople who use Drupal personally or professionally. We meet monthly, at 6PM on the first Monday of the month, at The Factory (38 Fulton S. West, Suite 400). Our meetings involve presentations on technical topics, assistance with each others' projects, and social time for networking and relaxation.
a bit more on module building and forms
Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm not even sure what to google here . . .
I have a module I built that's working. It's a block form that has two data items: say "amount" and "number."
These data are used as variables in some if/elseif code I have going that then sends the user to a particular page conditioned on the data inputs. Great.
But I also want to echo back those two pieces of data in that page--since these pages are views displays, I'd put the echo code in the header area of the view display using, I assume, some combination of HTML and PHP.

So as some of you know, I teach a course called "Writing for the Web." We have an intermediate and advanced section of this course for our Writing Majors (B.A. Writing).
Anyway, in the advanced section (which I teach next semester) I've been having students purchase shared hosting space (SITE5.com) and then we build from scratch. Even though this is complicated on the first day of class--imagine explaining to 20 undergrad humanities types how to use the wget command, distinguish between MySQL login, SITE5 login, user #1 login--it has, in the end, worked out well.

Join us again in December for our "Second Monday of the Month" regular meetup. We'll meet at the Community Media Center (next door to Wealthy Theater) on Wealthy St. in Grand Rapids.
Our default discussion is to share Drupal related problems and success, but as our meeting gets closer, we will announce any special topics.
In our last meeting, we looked at Drupal performance issues and took a brief look at contextual filters in views.

Webform Emails Won't Send
Hello,
I'm hoping someone can help me with an issue I'm having.
Webforms from Thermotron.com have not been working properly since Tuesday. A few forms going to info@thermotron.com wen through but none that were going to customerservice@thermotron.com or softwareupdates@thermotron.com.
To troubleshoot I did the following:
1. Sent an email from my jnewton@thermotron.com account to both customerservice@thermotron.com and softwareupdates@thermotron.com to make sure these email accounts were working. I received confirmation responses from both.

So this coming Monday is the second Monday of the month, which means it's our monthly GRupal Meeting. Last month we talked about having more time for people to pose questions and issues, and perhaps a site showcase. There also seemed interest in learning about Field Collections, which I am happy to talk about. I believe George also had a topic he was willing to share about.

August 12 GRupal Meeting
Hello GRupal,
The meeting for August will take place next Monday. If anyone has anything they'd like to talk about or ask questions about please let us know right away! Otherwise, Dan and I have planned to cover at least two areas of Drupal development.
Since I've been doing a bunch of front-end work lately I'll likely talk about custom theming in Drupal, involving creating your own custom theme from scratch, how to use template files, and developing your own designs for Drupal.

Any idea why I can't get this slideshow block to display properly in Chrome and on the Ipad (I assume because it's Safari)?
I'm good in IE and FF, but the slideshow block seems to collapse in the other two browsers. I can still see some of the overlay, which is an attached view display.
If I put this block in another region (other than header panel in the Adapative/Corolla theme) then it displays fine.
What could be odd about that header panel region that would cost the block not to display properly?

Hello Grand Rapids Drupalers,
Unfortunately we didn't get much feedback about topics for this month so you're stuck with our own topic of interest! Ha!
Dan Royer has a great site he's using for GVSU that demonstrates a Beginner-Intermediate level Drupal application, using the Views and Field Permissions modules. This is how he describes it:
