August 12 GRupal Meeting
Hello GRupal,
The meeting for August will take place next Monday. If anyone has anything they'd like to talk about or ask questions about please let us know right away! Otherwise, Dan and I have planned to cover at least two areas of Drupal development.
Since I've been doing a bunch of front-end work lately I'll likely talk about custom theming in Drupal, involving creating your own custom theme from scratch, how to use template files, and developing your own designs for Drupal.

Geeks, Makers, and programmers lend me your Inboxes! The seventh
annual free BarCamp * Grand Rapids is quickly approaching, and you're
all invited.
Barcamp is about meeting interesting people, talking about what you
want to talk about, and listening to what you're interested in.
Subjects of discussion have ranged from web programming and digital
photography to computer vision and turkey basting. (No, there wasn't a
talk on having a computer visually monitor your turkey, but if you've
tried it, you're welcome to report on your experiences!) You see, the

We are really excited about our June Meetup, June will be a bit different for a couple of reasons. We are going to be celebrating the opening of Commerce Guys’ new office in Ann Arbor by holding our meetup there for June. This will also allow for extended hours with food and drinks onsite as well as space to breakup into four “official” sessions total plus space for breakout conversations if needed. This also marks the 6 month mark since Drupalcamp Michigan, would be a great time to discuss the idea of a second camp in 6 months.

I thought there was a way to configure particular form items (usually textareas) to use a particular input filter by default that may be different than the global default set in /admin/settings/filters. Does anyone remember that or am I imagining things in my coding delirium?
Read moreManaging content as nodes in a separate database
I am managing a site with over 19 million business listings. Cloning a database this size is daunting and time-consuming. Most of this data is static, but there are some definite advantages to managing it as nodes. In a perfect world, I'd like to be able to move these 19M nodes to a separate database so that I could easily clone the rest of it for development and testing, but I can't think of any way to do that that will allow me to keep working with the data through the Drupal Node Module with its incumbent advantages.
