Any way to find out how many registered users have accessed the site within a given time?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Our circulation director is trying to find out if we can count registered users on our site towards our "subscriber" numbers. One of the things he wants to know is how many registered users logged into the site within a certain period of time.

I can use the "last login" or "last access" information in Views ... if I look at the View at the end of the month in question.

But if, for example, I wanted to know how many registered users logged into the site last month (September), I'm out of luck.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Enable access log:

access_log table would have that a very detailed trail of where users went etc...

Another option is the history table; this records UID NID and timestamp.

Another thing you could do is

Another thing you could do is install the Google Analytics module, and then you can segment the pageviews/visits of the registered users.

Thanks!

I did figure out how to do this with Google Analytics ... with some help from Brian Stevenson's screencast. Though I have to say that I'd really like to see some simple, step-by-step directions written out for this kind of thing. I'm a graphic designer by trade, with a B.A. in English, not computers, and I find myself plowing through a lot of tech stuff, just looking for a simple way to do what I want to do, and the answers I need are usually buried in the midst of a lot of stuff I don't need.
