Magister guttae = master of the drop
Magistri guttae = masters of the drop
Magister guttarum = master of the drops
Magistri guttarum = masters of the drops
I think that originally, I was more after something like "To Master the Drop", which might be something like "Gutta Periti". However, after this discussion, I'm personally leaning towards "Gutta Magistri" for the motto. Not sure if 'Heroes of the Drop' would have the same connotation. And I can't wait to see the shirts!

I would vote for "Magistri guttae = masters of the drop", but would also question the use of latin vs something more accessible, like... english, which seems to be the lingua franca of drupal.
My suggestion for "guttae heroes" was intended as a jokey pun on "guitar heroes," but really I agree with Greg. I don't see much point to using a Latin motto. I don't think most people will understand it or bother to figure out what it means, and if the guild is going to have a motto, it ought to serve the purpose of communicating something to people right away.
I noticed the http://drupalguilds.org/ website now has "Trust Amongst Masters" as its slogan so I guess we settled on that then. Happy to have played a very very small part in the start of this organisation. I have tried to join the website but my account (same id as d.o) has not yet been activated - is there anything you can do about that or are you not taking members yet?
TIA,
JamieT
P.S. Do I get Honorary Master of the Slogan title ;)
P.P.S Just kidding ;)
Since this is a Drupal Guild, mentioning Drupal in the slogan is redundant. Something like "mastering the craft" would say everything new that needs to be said.
I agree with the comments about avoiding latin and keeping it in English and whilst I like the "Masters of the Drop" slogan I am concerned that this might be a bit of an insider's joke and not effectively communicate to certain interested parties. My thoughts are that the slogan for the guild is likely to be communicating the guilds' ethos or raison d'etre to these distinct groups:
-Members of the guild
-Potential members existing drupalistas
-Potential developers of drupal
-Clients or potential clients of guild members
While the first two groups would get the "drop" reference it is likely to miss the mark with the other two groups.
I also agree the slogan does not need to include Drupal in it and I like the reference to truth or trust. My slogan suggestions would be to fuse the above two concepts in some way maybe as follows:
"Truth Amongst Masters" or "Trust Among Masters" or something similar.
:) I actually love the middle earthiness of it! After all, Drupalistas are so down-to-earth we wind up in middle earth. Damn, I would not have survived my young adulthood without middle earth, I spent many years there as an 8th level Paladin...until the incident with the ogre and bar-wench.
Anyhoo, Great ideas so far!

Magistri guttae = masters of the drop
Magister guttarum = master of the drops

Publish or Perish!
Maybe along with the 'don't hack core' snake from Drupaldelphia?
Either way, I'm printing that on the "Join the Guild" t-shirts I plan on printing for drupalcon... ;-)

Drupal Periti - Gutta Magistri
Or maybe "Drupal Periti - Gutta Magistri"? Google turns that into "Skilled in use of Drupal - A drop of water of Master", which almost makes sense.

"Trust amongst masters" sounds a bit middle-earth. But it will look cool on a t-shirt.
