Best Method for Providing Photo Cutlines (Captions)?

Using imagefields?

I need to place photos inside stories, with a cutline under the photos.

I've installed image field extended, image field, insert, and I forget what else because they all seemed to be interrelated. So now I have a field called "cutline" that appears at the bottom on the story. And ity seems to require uploading text, instead of just typing it in.

Am I missing something? Or is this all we can do with imagefield so instead we just have to do it all by hand for each new story?

jcisio -- "then I use a customized filter to rewrite the alt property into caption." could you give a little step by step on how to do this?

mikeytown2 -- when I watch that video, if brings up a field (where they type the cutline!) that we don't see -- is there some special way to turn on the jquery module? it's grayed out on the module list. And I presume that if we can manifest this, then we can use CSS to move the cutline off the image?

mbahlol -- that link goes to a how-to for the view slideshow module, is that what you intended?
