Administrative theme

I've been working over in the theme candidate for core7 area for a while focusing on a 960 based core theme and subtheme starter kit. In addition to this I've ported over an admin theme from d5 we've used internally for a while now to d6/960 grid. I would love to get feedback from the UX team on what is good/bad about it, and where it might be improved. Ultimately I'd like to see if we can get this into core as an administrative theme. Let me know what you all think, and how I can improve this.

Also, I failed to mention,

Also, I failed to mention, what makes this useful as an administrative theme is the collapsible header area. you can create custom menus, and place them in the header area. This allows you to have any administrative tools you might like to have in the header, and they stay out of the way of the rest of the design. Great for things like devel, and the main navigation menu for administration.

Admin Links Arrangement

Is there a how to guide on re-arranging admin links as your 960 theme does in /admin?

I'm looking at ways to implement a content publisher's dashboard as http://groups.drupal.org/node/9570#comment-37406 described.

Tested it

I like the tabs you made: they are definitely better identifiable as tabs than in Garland.
Tried to put a custom Menu in the "Header blocks" section.
Ah - this is pretty slick! And you even got header left, header right...
Very simple feature without any overhead, nice.

What I don't like is the general look - through a designers eyes I am not very caressed by the layout.
Also the middle section where all the action happens is unneccessary narrow to me.
What is quite disorienting is this section is darker, and if it is short, it hangs up in the air, while
the navigation menu when collapsed stretches out far below it. This feels strange.
