Hi everyone,

We've just launched a new news-site using Drupal. http://www.theblogpaper.co.uk/. We aim to publish the first free user generated newspaper in London UK by the End of August/ Beginning of September 2009.

So the concept in a nutshell basically is that users of theblogpaper.co.uk can upload articles, photos and engage in discussions. The highest rated and most discussed content will be promoted to the printed version of the blogpaper. Our intention is basically to create a weekly review of what has been going on within the blogging community, and what the community found worthy to be printed and is read by potentially more. Our main goal is to create a platform for bloggers, citizen journalists, photographers and other "content creators" which allows them to get further exposure and maybe reach out to new readerships.

So who decides what is being promoted to print?
The community. At the moment were using fivestar and vote up /down which can be used to rate content and comments. The highest rated content will be promoted to print. The reader of the newspaper will therefore get a compilation of content that has been "declared as valuable" by theblogpaper community...

We defined about 13 categories which we believe should cover the whole range of what you might blog about, but we will add categories time after time depending on what the community demands. We used CCK to define 4 different content types: Articles, Notes, Photos and Discussions.

So we used a number of different modules for this project:

CCK; Panels; Views; Pathauto; Image; Imagecache; Fivestar; Nodeprofiles; CTemplates (although we only use templates for one content type); Quicktabs; GAnalytics; XMLSitemap; Captcha. We were quite impressed how brilliant CCK, Panels and Views worked together (in comparison to other CMS's).

We would love to get some feedback, criticism, or ideas on what you think about the site and the concept in general. Just comment on this site or send me a message;)

have a good day;
anton
