I want to allow people to post classifieds anonymously but then if they register they then get those classifieds associated with their account.
An example workflow
- User finds my site
- User posts a job
- User wants to register
- User registers
- User then sees post from before he/she registered in his/her profile/track page.
Has anyone done something like this before.
I have been thinking that perhaps I need to create users for all visitors in the background and when they register they are actually just editing their profile because then I don't need to deal with changing node authors e.t.c..
Any opinions or modules out there for this?
Additionally I had thought that if I did it this way, I would be dumping anonymous page views which could be a fairly heavy load. I guess I could filter out bot user agents in the boot/init hook that creates/logs in the users based on some cookie.
Any opinions/experiences?

When posting the ads as anonymous user, ask them to provide their email address, also assuring them that it won't be disclosed and advise if they wanna register ever, they should use the same email address, this way, you can associate anonymous nodes to those users.
Also, when an anonymous user posts the data, send them a confirmation and instruction to use the same email address for future site activity.
Does this make sense?

46 weeks
Sounds lovely... But nothing in 46 weeks. Looks like they lost interest in it. :(
(And yes, I know, it's open source and all that but there's only so many hours in a day and I can't finish every half finished/barely started module out there that I think looks useful. :( )
