Should I use workspace or create a custom view for writers?

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

I've been working my way through creating an article submission process through workflow, which I love and just wonder where it was 5 years ago. But now I'm working on creating a writer-facing edge on it. I've been working off of "Using Drupal," which suggests using workspace but creating a custom view doesn't like it would be that hard and would let me fine-tune the user experience.

Our writers are a mix of volunteer and paid, and are all over the board in terms of usability, so I'd like to make sure that the website speaks their language, so to speak.

Is there a major drawback to re-creating workspace in a custom view besides doing something over again?

Consider using the advanced

Consider using the advanced profile kit http://drupal.org/project/advanced_profile . Because it uses panels it's easy to add user specific features with context. It's designed for advanced forums but can be repurposes to display to authors their posts and all the comment replies to their posts. If you use it with login destination module you can redirect authors on login to their profile where they can see all the responses to their articles. You can also add a custom pane with links to create new article or create new column.

That looks like a great solution.

I really appreciate it!
