All coders welcome, we have plenty of room so feel free to invite other user groups and bring the family.
Last December, many of the local software developer User Groups banded together and had a party (instead of the regular meetings). It was known as the Winter Coders Social(photos).
The Summer Coders Social is the outdoor and (hopefully) sunny successor!!!

How does Drupal compare to other CMSs?
Recently NTEN (Nonprofit Technology Network) put out their 2008 CMS Satisfaction Survey. You can find the full text and numbers for this survey on their web page, though it will cost you $50 if you are not a member. They are a valuable nonprofit themselves, so supporting them seems to be a good thing, and this report would go a long way to helping many of you convince your clients to use Drupal, more than you could achieve in $50 of billable time in many cases, so it would be $50 well spent.
In any event I thought I'd at least share the basics of that report with the group, on how Drupal ranked in customer satisfaction and related areas. Remember though that this is not representative of all your clients, but is nonprofit focussed, which is a group probably more likely to use free tools before most others, so it is unlikely that the world at large matches these numbers, fascinating as they are.

Help needed with proper CVS tagging of developer releases
Hi,
I posted this in the Drupal Module Development forum, where it dropped to the second page in about 24 hours. It occurred to me, after attending the recent Drupal Camp, that we have a lot of Drupal experts right here in Portland. So if anyone knows the answer to this question, I would appreciate the help. You can post a reply here or at http://drupal.org/node/273520. Thanks!
My first ever Drupal module is at http://drupal.org/project/uc_addresses. I think I screwed up the releases and I would like to get them as close to "Drupal-standard form" as possible.

Hi everyone - I finally transcribed the video for the Drupal Camp PDX to the web. Sorry it took so long - I really just did not know how to compress the hour long sessions to fit on the web. I came across Blip.tv by reading a post from the Seattle Drupal Group (relating to their video needs for the upcoming Drupal Camp).
I posted my first video of CCK on my blog: http://www.pairodime.com/articles/company/news/seo-presentation-at-drupa...

I really don't like posting support questions here in the groups section, but you guys are awesome and I wanted to ask you first.
I am having consistent issues with Image Quality from thumbnail images generated by Imagecache.
I use a CCK Image field to upload the image - then I run image cache on it to create the teaser and full view.
The quality for the large image is usually fine - but the thumbnail is really not up to par.
Is there a way to control that - using PHP settings for GD library?

Ideas/feedback for the next DrupalCampPDX
At the monthly meeting we had a quick discussion of what went right and wrong at DrupalCampPDX 2008. Grant suggested putting up a wiki so that people could provide suggestions and feedback. Well here's the wiki so have at it.
Things we could have done better
- We needed to be much more careful with our dates. Not so close to Seattle BarCamp and not on the same day as Vancouver's. We are a community and should be considerate of our region. Also, we lost attendees and program participants.
- You could add the next point.
Drupal wiki module
Any suggestions for a wiki module that allows me to plug a wiki into my page, or allow my users to. I didn't really see anything in 6. What for example is used for the wikis we post here on our DUG?

Read moreQuestion about user profile
Hi folks,
I'd like to make a couple of fields that I added to the user profile view only. Only the admin will be able to enter new users. Users can update their profiles but I want to prevent them from changing a couple of fields. I'm using Drupal 5.7 with the profiletabs module.
I realise this is probably obvious but I'm stuck as I am still pretty new to Drupal. I've searched and searched for the answer and also posted it on the support forum with no response.
Can you please stir me in the right direction? I'm prepared to buy you a beer! :)
Thanks!
