DrupalCampPDX Dates
We've picked some tentative dates for the next Portland DrupalCamp: August 22-23, 2009.
So scour your calendars and make sure there aren't any other big tech events that weekend. Obviously any date is going to cause problems for some subset of people but we want to make sure we're not up against another regional DrupalCamp. It'll be close to DrupalCon Paris but hopefully we'll still be able to draw in some other people on the West Coast.

Hi everyone,
We just created a little PHP script to automate CVS checkouts of the latest stable releases of Drupal 6 core and contributed modules:

Does anybody know of another script that does this?

Hey there.
I'm working on building a drupal six uber-cart store. It's been a fun adventure thus far.
Anyways, I'm working on building a basic store "foundation" that I can sort of use to build into any other store. I'm setting up some views blocks which display all the brands the store carries (a view), the latest products to add to the store, and the most popular items (based on views). That's all easy and works fine.
I'm having a bit more of an issue working on creating a view that displays the "product" vocabulary like this:

Data entry/Training for/at Street Roots on rosecityresource.org
The community project we've been working on since December, rosecityresource.org (http://groups.drupal.org/node/17216) is just about done! It's currently at Metal Toad Media, who is theming the site. That part will be done on March 20th.
On March 21st, we're planning to have a work day at Street Roots where we show them how to use the site, do data clean-up, and get the Spanish data in (we were able to import the English data, but will need to go to each record and click "translate" to copy and paste the Spanish content to the site- the Spanish was a bit too messy to import).
Read moreview and edit links for nodes in a custom theme
Hello,
I am still busy working on my first theme... now trying to figure out how to get my theme to display the "view" and "edit" links when looking at a node. I have searched through some other themes for clues and also searched for threads on the drupal.org site, but just can't seem to find what I am looking for. Can someone help point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Andy )

I'm lucky enough to be heading down and was wondering who else from PDX is going. Any interest in a short PDX meetup (coffee/bast or beers)?
Read moreMarch Meeting - Contemplate and DrupalCon Roundup
For the March meeting we'll have a short presentation by Tony Rasmussen. It'll continue a discussion at the January meeting on when to use Contemplate module vs. the Theme Layer.
After that I was hoping to have everyone who's going to DrupalCon in DC talk for a few minutes about what they'd seen and what got them excited.
Read moreUber cart for Drupal 6 -- Questions!
Hey everyone,
So I know a lot of the Ubercart stuff for Drupal 6 is in Alpha, but recent upgrades to the myriad of dependent modules for d5uc has made using Drupal 5 not an option. Trust me I wasted a week on it. Most of the issues are image-cache related. Ubercart for drupal six is amazingly functional though. I've still got a few questions for everyone though:
Read moreDonate Laptop to Doctor from Gaza, Palestine?
Hi everyone,
My friend Houda is a doctor from Gaza in Palestine. She is visiting the US doing training in conflict resolution and psychology, and is deeply committed to innovative work for peace in the region using mediation, diversity tools, and conflict resolution techniques that embrace and respect the voices of all sides involved. Houda has been living at our house for the past month and I am deeply impressed by her compassion, intelligence, and integrity.
Houda works with a psychology clinic in Gaza, but the resources there are extremely limited and she does not have a laptop computer. Do you or someone you know have a laptop computer to donate? We can arrange for this to be tax-deductible if you need.
She is on her way back to Gaza in a few days, so if you can help out, give me a call at 413.210.2803. -- Will Hall
Read moreWhen to use -> to grab an element
Hi,
I am still learning the art of theming, and have been using theme developer, and other themes as reference in building my own theme... and I feel like I am making good progress...
Something that has come up that I don't understand, and cannot seem to find on the drupal site, is when to use the -> to grab an element
I understand how to use $variable[0]['view'] for example...
but I don't understand when to use $node->content['body']['#value']
what does the -> represent?
where can i learn more about this?
Thanks,
Andy )
It's time for me to get some hand holding
Since the end of November, I have been working on converting my organization's static web site into a dynamic one using Drupal. I have managed without any special assistance to get the site up and running, and I understand most of what I think I need to know, but it's what I don't know that I need to know that worries me (Shoot me if I begin to sound like Dick Cheney!), and there are some aspects of Drupal theming and content management that I could use a little assistance with.
Read moreBringing DrupalCon to Portland?
One thing I've noticed is that the DrupalCons in North America have been on the other side of the country, and considering that I'd like to attend, I was wondering if anybody had considered trying to host one here in Portland. Granted, it would be slightly bigger than the Drupal Camp already being worked on (just slightly), but I think it would be great if we brought one here.
Read moreSome help resolving a hook_search and form API problem?
I have a form which consists of search results formatted as a table and themed as a form for which the validate and submit functions work correctly EXCEPT when this search results form is used with hook_search in which case neither the search results form's validate or submit functions are ever called.
hook_search appears to be bypassing the search results form's validate and submit functions entirely.

Howdy:
We're gauging interest in the need for a module to manage recurring billing and paid subscriptions within Drupal.
The Problem:
Our experience is that a simple solution is sorely needed for Drupal. Particularly for paid roles.
Solutions for this exist with AMember, CiviCRM, UberCart and eCommerce (not for 6.0 for eCommerce). But there are problems inherent with each solution.
The Current Solutions:

This is a one day event (Feb. 21), but we'll be running lightening talks where people will pitch their ideas for the Camp two nights before at our monthly meeting (Feb. 19).
