Wildlife news portal with Drupal

Hi,

My first Drupal-based site is up: WildlifeWatch http://www.wildlifewatch.in/

i) The site extensively uses Views and Contemplate.
ii) There are seven content types as of now.
iii) There are two section/landing pages inside: http://www.wildlifewatch.in/news-india/ and http://www.wildlifewatch.in/news-world/ The others will be customised only as when they get populated and we have more content to play around with.
iv) There are some 70 or 80 different TPL files. Mainly used with Views for Blocks.

I don't find too many constraints with Drupal. The only one that gets my goat are theming of Views and the CSS styles that are embedded in the core files.

You can call this a Beta launch. There's obviously a lot more that one can do when content flow is heavier.

Would appreciate comments.

Thanks.

Nice!

Hey, your site looks really good! Congratulations!
I particularly like the way you frame the teaser images - and in general your site has many very nice images.

After clicking around I found two bugs (or undocumented features):
* The music suddenly stopped after 30 seconds or so.
* The link "sign up for site updates" is broken.

There were also to visual things that bothered me:
* The font in the left column block titles looks pixly on my screen, as if it was scaled down in a bad way.
* In the right column, there is no space between images and title lists (while a pixel or two would be nice).

Well, congratulations again.
Did you build your own theme, or did you modify an existing one?

Cheers!

Johan, thanks for the

Johan, thanks for the comments and the kind words.

i) The music is from the birds video, not embedded into the side code. But yes, I agree. It is misleading. I'll need to fix that element.

ii) Thanks for pointing out that 'page not found' error. I recently carried out an auto path renaming. This one has a custom pathname. Slipped out of my attention altogether.

The font in the left column block titles looks pixly on my screen, as if it was scaled down in a bad way.
I didn't follow this. Looked ok on my screen.

In the right column, there is no space between images and title lists (while a pixel or two would be nice).
Of course. I will need to fix this.

Lastly, I built on Bluebreeze. I thought it had the cleanest output, and allowed for max flexibility.

Cheers.

Screenshot, again

Hi again
I tried but failed to attach a screen shot showing the left column of wildlifewatch.in. Instead I uploaded it here: http://www.anst.uu.se/johfa456/filer/WildlifeWatch.png
(I use Camino and Firefox in OS X, if that would be of any use.)

The pixly headers are nothing critical, but I hope the screen shot gives you an opportunity to see what I see. =)

Concerning the music, I didn't realize the music came from a video. The page took some time to load (10+ seconds), so I opened another tab and did some more browsing while waiting - when the music started I just assumed that it was some kind of background music.

Are you going to do a writeup of the process of creating the site? (How long time did it take? How many people worked in the development? What were your main problems, and how did you solve them? What does your customized nodes contain? What does the backend/inside interface look like? What are your audience, and how many visitors and members do you have? Etc., etc...)

Congratulations once again.

Added afterwards: I finally managed to attach the screenshot. It's found at http://groups.drupal.org/node/7361
