Anybody else working on Accessibility docs yet?

We encourage users to post events happening in the community to the community events group on https://www.drupal.org.

I'm about to tackle a modest project in the Accessibility pages and just wanted to be sure I wasn't reproducing anyone else's work. Anyone here working on those docs? (Our Accessibility group actually is coordinating a project to improve that content. I am plugged in with [the rest of] them.) If so, please touch base with me so we can collaborate.

Sounds like a good idea, and we're always glad to have someone tackling an "Improve This Section" project.

I could use some help...

Thanks, Jennifer!

I made a first stab at it, but the result was so bad that I had to fix it ASAP. In fixing it, I have:

  • Edited the Color and Contrast entry of the Theming Guide to add a thorough description of Contrast-A and a link to my original detailed explanation of how to use it to address a specific problem in a D7 issue.
  • Removed the results of my first stab at working this information into the handbook from the Site Builder's Guide entry on Accessibility and Drupal.
  • Moved a little bit of information about a contrast assessment tool from "Accessibility and Drupal" to "Color and Contrast."
  • Added a couple of links from "Accessibility and Drupal" to "Color and Contrast" for information on tools and using them.
  • Added a link from "Color and Contrast" to "Accessibility and Drupal" for information on WCAG 2.0.

Eventually I want to remove the link to the issue queue by building a clear, standalone presentation on using Contrast-A to build an accessible palette. I'm thinking that presentation needs to be on a page of its own, but I'm not sure how we go about getting a new page added to the handbook.

I'd appreciate reviews by and suggestions from folks who are familiar with theming but not particularly familiar with color, contrast, and accessibility — or who at least are not so immersed in those issues as to not be able to look at my work as if you were unfamiliar with them.

Thanks!

I'll ping a couple themer

I'll ping a couple themer types and see if they can give their 2 cents. Thanks for working on that Cliff, I'm sure it hadn't been updated for a while. ;)
