CKAN module
The CKAN (http://ckan.net/about) module was published by the UK government. This module allows content to be synched from CKAN into Drupal. See open data sets from different governments: http://ckan.net/tag/government
CKAN is the system UK use as their “back end” to store information about all the data government has released. Drupal is used as a system to publish web content, and serves as their “front end” through which people can use to find our datasets and comment on them.
Budget problems may shutdown key open gov sites in the US
Bitter irony that so soon after the announcement that the source code of IT Dashboard is being made available, news is reporting (http://www.federalnewsradio.com/?nid=35&sid=2327798) the imminent shutdown of that site and other "open gov" sites as a result of the budget debacle.

CDC Flu App Challenge - 35K in Prizes

I wanted to let you know about the CDC Flu App Challenge, http://fluapp.challenge.gov. CDC is offering $35,000 in prizes for the most innovative apps that use CDC flu data to create a technical solution that promotes healthy behavior for flu prevention.
The contest challenges the public to create new ways to use technology, be it for:
• the web
• a personal computer
• a mobile handheld device
• any platform broadly accessible to the open Internet

Anyone seen http://opendatakit.org ?
Allows you to create xml forms, and fill them out on an android smart phone. The data can then be sent to any server. The project has software for building forms (web-based), filling them out (android app), and a sever for data collection.
Data can include photos, geo-locations, text, selects, email addresses, etc. The forms are pretty customisable, and it seems easy to make optional and repeatable components (eg. for a family survey, add as many "children" form components made up of other form components as you need).

This list was originally released by Alex Howard on April 6th here. I thought it might be a helpful to add it to our growing sources of open data.
Boost OpenPublic in Europe + 28th of April deadline to apply for FP7-ICT-2011-SME-DCL
After Drupal Gov Days in Bruxelles there has been no follow up that I know after the presentation of Stephano Bertolo (slides attached). Stephano knows a lot about Drupal. He gave the example of OpenPublic (slides 25) and on slides 28, he told us that there was a budget of 35 M Eur budget to help ““Small and Medium Enterprises building pools of data, content, language resources to maximise reuse” (FP7-ICT-2011-SME-DCL)
I may be mistaken but I think the Drupal Community could fit into that :
-We could list all projects of translation of OpenPublic and what it would take to coordinate
IATI
A few months back The International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI http://iatistandard.org ) standard was approved by a growing group of Donors. IATI describes Organizations, Activities and their costs in the development sector and an XML format in which to publish these, in order to make international aid-flows more transparent.
Drupal is an excellent base-platform to allow Donors to publish their information in IATI, but also to import published IATI files and visualize them in graphs and on maps.

Need Data for Infograph
Hello, I am trying to create an infograph about Drupal showcasing its strengths and advantages, especially showing how it has grown since it's inception, numbers of modules and themes by year possibly, ect... or any other Ideas I may not have thought of. I am not a Drupal user myself(yet), so if anyone has any Ideas I would be welcome to them. If anyone has any good links to data or any data or know anyone who would have this information it would be a great help.

Display dataset results as nodes
Is it possible to pull in a dataset such as "http://beta.kasabi.com/dataset/foodista/" and display them as nodes?
So far I have pull in a list of recipes with the sparql_views and views module. I would like to be able to full there full content on a node page. Is this even possible ? I have seen no examples of this being done.
