How does Drupal compare to other CMSs?
Recently NTEN (Nonprofit Technology Network) put out their 2008 CMS Satisfaction Survey. You can find the full text and numbers for this survey on their web page, though it will cost you $50 if you are not a member. They are a valuable nonprofit themselves, so supporting them seems to be a good thing, and this report would go a long way to helping many of you convince your clients to use Drupal, more than you could achieve in $50 of billable time in many cases, so it would be $50 well spent.
In any event I thought I'd at least share the basics of that report with the group, on how Drupal ranked in customer satisfaction and related areas. Remember though that this is not representative of all your clients, but is nonprofit focussed, which is a group probably more likely to use free tools before most others, so it is unlikely that the world at large matches these numbers, fascinating as they are.

Summer Coders Social
All coders welcome, we have plenty of room so feel free to invite other user groups and bring the family.
Last December, many of the local software developer User Groups banded together and had a party (instead of the regular meetings). It was known as the Winter Coders Social(photos).
The Summer Coders Social is the outdoor and (hopefully) sunny successor!!!

I'm trying to change the way I've been coming up with presentation topics from basically not doing much at all, to a more formal schedule of topics. I've found myself doing talks simply because it was easier to do it myself than try to line someone up. As DrupalCampPDX demonstrated there's a lot of very talented people in this town doing very cool things. I personally need to step it up and do a better job of tapping them and bringing them in.

A discussion worth checking out is this one on a CMS brand survey which amazon posted to the Drupal Group Marketing of Drupal. It references the following survey:

I'm no marketing expert, but it seemed to me that while awards and other trends show Drupal surpassing most, Joomla were kicking our butts when it came to marketing and PR. However Amazon had a pretty good answer to that, though I think there is still much for Drupal to do on the marketing end, and this survey could be some help.
Overall it still looks healthy for Drupal, with Wordpress dominating, Joomla second, and Drupal third and everyone else a looong way off. It's interesting to note that technical proficiency is quite out of tune with marketing, with Drupal (possibly) under-performing, but doing vastly better than, for example, Plone, which has a lot of positives, but is lagging badly in this survey.

Hello, PDX'ers,
I was recently contacted by an organization who wants to build their internal capacity with Drupal -- they're local to Portland, and would like to be able to sit down with someone periodically to work on their existing site, built in Drupal.

Lightning talks with the Lullabots
