Questions! Forums in drupal? Anonymous comments by content type?
Allright everyone, two areas I'd like some input on!
First: Forums
What do you use for forums on your own drupal sites? I've wanted to avoid going the forum route to gain additional repeat visitation but it's become nescessary. The one built into drupal is extremely lack luster. What is the easiest and most functional when integrated in your experience?
Second: Anonymous Comments by content type?

We're fortunate to welcome Todd Tomlinson, a managing partner with Aha Consulting, to speak with us about Panels. Todd has 30+ years in the IT industry and also serves as the Senior Professor and Area Chair for the School of Information Technology at the University of Phoenix - where he teaches web design and development. Todd has been involved in developing web CMS solutions since the mid-90's - focusing his efforts on Drupal for the past 3 years.
Todd describes his presentation as follows:
"Panels 2.0 is a powerful and feature rich toolset that every Drupal developer should have in their tool belt. Panels provides the ability significantly enhance your ability to render content on your site through a simple point/click/drag and drop interface. I will go through the process of creating a project management workbench using Drupal 6, Panels 2.0 and Views."

Hello Portlanders. Was great to meet y'all last month, my first meeting. A really nice bunch we've got! Looking forward to our next meeting tonight.
I've been busy for the last month finishing up my latest creation. It's an artist's portfolio site, with lots of attention given to theme development. It's a pretty one, and I want to keep it that way. Please help me test at : http://cyrusmejia.openfacestudio.com

So I brought up DrupalCampPDX 2009 at last night's DUG and there was much interest as well as interest in helping to make it happen. However it was pointed out that there had been a lot of interest at prior meetings and yet nothing had come of it, so the suggestion was that we simply set a time for those of us interested in making this happen to meet, and just meet. So a few of us agreed that about two weeks time sounded good, and here it is.
Read moreAcquia Drupal
Anyone using Acquia Drupal? It seems to give you a small edge by having a larger core that encompasses many excellent contributed modules. The advantage seems to be that you get to update Drupal core and all of these modules with a single download, instead of updating modules one at a time and core separately. However, it does have Acquia modules that appear to be designed to rustle up business, though they can be turned off. So, is it worth it? I know there are some efficiency concerns for some. What are the upsides and downsides?
Read moreLightning Talks @ Feburary Meeting
For the February meeting we're going to be doing a series of lightning talks. If you haven't seen this format before I think you'll enjoy it. Each speaker will have a fixed amount of time to present a topic. It could be showing off a module you like, showing of a site you worked on, or demonstrating a trick you've discovered.
I'll suggest 7 minutes as the time limit for each talk but I'm open to discussion on that point.
