Store developer and webhosting needed for Syrian widow project
The details are still emerging, but I am reaching out to my local Drupal community for help with the following project.
BACKGROUND
The current civil war in Syria has now left countless women without a breadwinner. Ones that are able to leave the country end up in refugee camps where they remain vulnerable. The ones that stay have no means, and without infrastructure in place, they have no ability to provide for themselves or their children.
PHPUnit test sprint for the the D8 Migrate in Core initiative (aka IMP)
Tuesday, November 19, Portland will be supporting a core migration path from Drupal 6 to Drupal 8 with a sprint at the OSU Foundation center in downtown Portland from 9am - 5pm. Lunch will be provided and we're in the smaller room, so please sign up if you plan to join us in person!
IMP initiative lead chx will be supporting the sprint via IRC so you, too, can join virtually! See the main sprint post for additional details: https://groups.drupal.org/node/368343
Huge thanks to OpenSourcery for getting this off the ground by committing three awesome developers to the sprint for the entire day!
Join jessehs, mpgeek, adamdicarlo, and eliza411 for a full day of PHPUnit test goodness. It's a great chance to get involved with Drupal 8 and contribute to a hugely valuable migration path.

November Drupal User Group
Last month's Drupal theming doubleheader was a hit, so we're going to do another 7/8 doubleheader! This month we're covering custom modules in D7 and D8!
But first we'll take care of a little Drupal 6 business. Drupal 6 was really awesome for its time, but with Drupal 8 on the horizon, it means 6 support is going away. Melissa is going to give a quick lightning talk about IMP and how you can get involved.

Hello,
I'm starting work at a company near 222 NW 5th Ave in a week and I traditionally drive to work. I live in SW Portland near Mall 205 and wondered if anyone could give me some recommendations on routes and transit stops to use to get between my place of employment and home.
Do you have any rules I should follow from a social/personal level and areas to avoid?
What do you usually spend a week/month on mass transit and do you use the max and or bus system?
Thanks.

Developer specific sprint to focus on core and contrib. The idea is to do this either weekly or bi-weekly depending on interest.
For the next few months it would be great to focus on D8. For some this is an opportunity to keep on working on core while others will find a way to learn what's new and improved in D8.
Location: Live Axle office at 310 SW 4th Ave, Suite 910 (map)

This month I think we'll spend some time reviewing the latest trends in Drupal frontend, going over some of the topics covered at DrupalCon Prague / PNWDS / BADCamp, and discussing what we want our focuses to be over the next few months. I also want to pick your brains about a likely conference-y event of our own here next year.
You might want to bring your laptop, and definitely bring topics you want to discuss and lingering questions you've always had about Drupal theming. If you attended one of the above-mentioned Drupal events, maybe come ready to share some of your highlights.
