About this page
This is a list of the known Drupal user groups in California. Here are some of the things that can be done with this information:
- It is now much easier to find the California groups you'd like to join. Just click the name of the group you want to join and click the "Join" link in the sidebar of that group's page.
- If you are creating a new group in California, list it here to let others know about it.
- Depending on how #1074208 (Add a location field to group node) goes, a California-specific map showing the user groups can be created using this information (e.g. a Google map with markers showing the locations of all the groups and their meetups)
- Add your ideas here!
California Drupal Travelers Program Wiki
The mission of the Drupal Travelers Program is to connect businesses and traveling community members with local communities and events in the areas that they are visiting.
You are welcome to edit and add to this wiki, but keep the list organized and do not remove entries unless you are that meetup or group organizer.
Adding links, dates and geographical locations is encouraged.

Detailed Descriptions of Meetups
When editing and adding meetups below, be as descriptive as you'd like. It may be helpful to businesses and traveling community members for them to have as much information as possible.
Frontend Drupal / Design 4 Drupal
The Frontend Drupal / Design 4 Drupal meetups are on the 4th Tuesday and are usually in Culver City, CA. They focus on design, theming, usability, typography and other frontend-related topics.
With enough notice, Downtown Los Angeles Drupal organizers can produce special events at Droplabs on the 4th Wednesday in Downtown Los Angeles.
Droplabs already hosts several Drupal meetups each month, including the High Performance Drupal and general Downtown Los Angeles Drupal meetups. These meetups have had attendance of between 20-65 attendees.
The San Gabriel Valley Drupal meetups are on the 4th Thursday in San Gabriel Valley (usually Pasadena, CA). They have a general focus and have an attendance of between 15-30 attendees.
The San Diego Drupal Users Group meetups are on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at the San Diego Hall of Champions in Balboa Park. We have a mixed structure with some planned content and some ad-hoc content, and we usually have a small social meetup at the Prado down the street afterwards.
The San Diego North County DUG meetups are on the 4th Thursday of every month in Carlsbad, CA at the NAMM headquarters in the Museum Of Making Music. This meetup averages about 10-15 users, most of which are seasoned Drupalers. Content is purely ad-hoc, and you may be asked to talk about what you've been doing recently.
Read moreList of modules by importance
In the interest of discovering automatically which Drupal modules are the most important to know about, I compiled some statistics. I used a google-like method of quantifying importance: I counted the number of times each module was linked to in the descriptions of other modules (including sandbox projects). The data were gathered yesterday, 11/29/11 from drupal.org. Here is the top 200:

Join us at Droplabs on Friday & Saturday, June 15-16, 2012, for a Barn Raising and Code Sprint to benefit the Echo Park Time Bank and TimeBanks USA!
There's something for everyone at this two-day event and you're welcome to attend either or both days. If you're interested in learning more about Drupal and getting some practical hands-on experience, or if you're a Drupal power user and would like to help mentor others into using Drupal's best practices for site development, this is an excellent opportunity.
The Echo Park Time Bank is a non-profit community collective with a mission to facilitate the cooperative exchange of goods and services among its hundreds of members. Since September 2011, the Echo Park Time Bank has been using Drupal to manage their community website at http://arroyoseco.timebanks.org and its currency system.
At this barn raising, we'll be improving the online membership application and implementing a realname policy for usernames. The work we do will be shared with TimeBanks USA, which will directly benefit the 300+ time banks that have their own sites that use the same Drupal distribution.
This is our second barn raising for the time bank and directly builds upon the work we completed last time. See http://ex.tl/ZTT for more information about our last barn raising and code sprint.
