mysql has gone away issue...
I've encounter some strange issue with a update cache_update sql which caused the mysql connection link to be disconnected.
But when i execute it in my mysql query analyser, it seems to be okay...
I'm not sure why it happen in drupal, but it seems to the 250th++ query it is executing via the same connection.
It seems to disconnect very often after that...
What i did was that, i do a mysql_ping before executing any queries...
But i'm concern if the disconnected connection query is successful or not.
Anyone got any idea?
btw, here was my fix, for those who encounter similar issue:
Read moreDrupal Excessive SQL Queries...
On my site, i've installed several modules which leads to about:
+ 250+ queries on admin page
+ 160+ queries on every other page accessed , including frontpage.
I'm amazed by the number of queries it used up...
Thats why the site seems to be quite slow...
Anyone have any suggestion?
I know i need to trim down on my modules, but i think some of the large number of queries are from drupal core itself...
DrupalCon Asia-Pacific Organizers Invite You to Participate
We are excited to announce the DrupalCon Asia-Pacific Organisers group. DCAPO intends to lay foundations that will facilitate international Drupal Conferences (DrupalCons) in the Asia-Pacific region.
DCAPO welcomes and needs input and assistance from Drupal users and communities throughout the Asia-Pacific region. DrupalCons are a lot of work, and are only possible through the community's effort. Please join the DCAPO group to share your opinions and experience, volunteer your time, or nominate yourself or others for roles on the selection team.
DCAPO will later announce a call to the community to suggest and research locations for the first Asia-Pacific DrupalCon. Note that a lot of work goes into researching locations. The DCAPO selection team will only be able to seriously consider locations with suitable venues, dates and event management companies, financial estimates, potential audience and motivated local teams.
But first, as much of the Asia-Pacific Drupal community as possible needs to get involved. You can help by translating and reposting this announcement on other websites where Asia-Pacific Drupal users and communities are likely to find it. Don't forget to note any translations and reposts in the DCAPO group so that we can track progress and share translations with each other.
Read moredrupal custom url / menu permission
If you ever one to have a url which is accessible by anyone,
you may either make a function to return true,
or you may set 'access callback' => '1'...
If it doesn't work, try go to administration > performance > resetting the cache.
The cache is always there, even with cache is off.
Drupal access stages
Drupal is built with permission sets in mind.
User may have 1 or more roles.
Content may be limited based on content type, or up to single node level (1record).
When a user is viewing a node / page,
user will have to pass through access "access content".
Next, node may be limited based on content type in:
hook_access
The type of access names can be declared in:
hook_perm
To overwrite permission, you may edit hook_access within the same node module,
or use hook_nodeapi
stages:
* check for "access content"
* trigger nodeapi.op = "load"

*UPDATE* - This event's details have changed and has been postponed a new date. Please visit http://drupalapc.org for more details

I am pleased to announce that the next large gathering of Drupalers will be held in Sydney, Australia from May 18th - 22nd 2008 at the Sydney Convention and Exhibition Center Darling Harbor in conjunction with the Open CeBIT expo and conference. We're inviting people from all over the region - and that means you!
The Drupal Asia Pacific Conference is a major event to gather Drupalers to learn, discuss and advance Drupal. It is also a great opportunity to network with other community members that operate in the Asia Pacific region and who may not be able to attend community events on the other side of the world.
The conference will feature dual tracks over 3 days and a single theatre over a day and half that will also be open to the broader Open CeBIT audience. We are partnering with the Joomla community to host a website building contest which will be prominently highlighted at the OpenCeBIT Conference. All attendees will be provided free entry to the CeBIT expo (20th - 22nd) and offered discounted tickets to the Open CeBIT conference. We will also be hosting a booth as part of the CeBIT Exhibition to educate and promote Drupal to businesses, government, and individual attendees of the exhibition.

Read moreWelcome to the Singapore Drupal group
I started this group in hope of bringing the Drupal community in Singapore together. I'm sure there are several Drupal enthusiasts out there. I had some problem trying to loan Drupal books from the National Library.
Singapore is a small country and I think we can meet up more easily compared to Drupalists from countries that have larger land areas. We can learn about Drupal together and help each other out.
Help to spread the word and get more people to join up. I hope this group will thrive and help us become better Drupalists!
