Greater Los Angeles Drupal startups eligible for Ultimate MSDN subscription via Microsoft BizSpark

Only local images are allowed. Greater Los Angeles Drupal has partnered with Microsoft BizSpark, a program that provides support to software entrepreneurs.

For a limited time, Greater Los Angeles Drupal startups can sign up and receive the Ultimate MSDN subscription (worth up to $13,000 in software licenses) and $150 / month of Azure.

That's right! These are seriously big discounts to startups in our community. Rumor has it, however, that the BizSpark benefits may change beginning in July, 2014, so we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible.

New Group: Drupal 7 on Windows

I created this group to see what kind of interest there is in running Drupal 7 on a Windows environment. There is already a group to dedicated to Drupal on IIS, which has a good following of people interested in getting Drupal running under Microsoft's Internet Information Servier. The group is mostly focused on Drupal 6, and has some good content.

I wanted a group to discuss the specific issues around running Drupal 7 on Windows, particularly the use of Microsoft's SQL Server as a replacement for MySQL. This is made possible by the work done by a team at Microsoft that wrote a driver for SQL Server, and then packaged up the whole thing as an installable item.

PHP 5.2.5 breaks SQL Server support; Yet MSFT SQL Driver Works

So, I've had some free time latley, and I've started back on the database API layers (DB2 and SQL Server currently).
However, I have found 2 disturbing issues.

Overview
First, I'm currently exploring the following 3 ways to connect to sql server:
1. FreeTDS
2. php_mssql driver
3. MSFT SQL Driver ( See pcorbetts posting for a link to the driver )

Let the DB Revolution Begin (MS SQL)

Ok, so I finally got around to it. Drupal 5.0 (6.0-dev) MS SQL support. I am hoping this thread can be a sort of 'behind the scenes' working group with official patches posted to Drupal.org.

NOTE: This has been tested with:

  • PHP 5.1.6
  • SQL Server Standard 2005
  • ntwdblib.dll v. 2000.80.194.0 (you will need this updated version and not the one that comes with your php install)

With that said, on to the patch. It is definalty a hefty one at 51KB. So, a quick over-view of what it does.
First, a few files have been added:
