Drupal's ability to replace proprietary systems like Oracle and SAP

Hello Enterprise group! I have extensive experience with enterprise systems like JD Edwards, Oracle, and SAP, in manufacturing and now I'm a Drupal developer. I would like to start a discussion about Drupal's ability to replace these proprietary systems. I suffered many years dealing with these systems and would love to see Drupal put the RIP label on their strangle hold on industry. I'm especially interested in:
1) What does Oracle/SAP/etc do that Drupal can't do?
2) What parts of Oracle/SAP/etc can be replaced by D7? D8?
3) Are you using Drupal in your enterprise now? If so, how?

list of Drupal-based systems in the enterprise

This group looks like it only takes the occasional enterprise-level job vacancy advert, but just in case anyone is still listening I'll give it a shot.

Can you give me a list of enterprise-level systems built with Drupal or integrated with Drupal?

Perhaps http://drupal.org/project/openenterprise, http://drupal.org/project/erpal and http://drupal.org/project/crm fit the bill - I don't know, I've never used them. Have you?

BAD Event Diversification (Ladder / Enterprise / Marketing) ("BEDLEM")

Yes, I am going to purposely make a silly acronym for everything :D

As with Drupal itself, there is never one answer for what type of events we need for Drupal. Then there's timing - some people can't make Mondays, some can't make evenings, etc. I'm a great believer in what one of the Drupal London guys said in Munich about having more, smaller events. That doesn't mean we shouldn't have the big ones too, but we can achieve more being small pieces loosely joined.

Looking for Co-founders for Drupal based startup in Vienna

Dear all,

I want to launch a new startup with the objective of developing an enterprise SaaS tool for Asset Management.

I have been testing Drupal7 for the past few months and I believe it makes sense to use it for building this tool, and I am looking for co-founders with Drupal experience (developers and designers).

Please send me a message if you find this interesting and wants to learn more about it...

Regards,

Luiz

Drupal on Enterprise Service Bus - DoESB

I am hopping to solicit feedback and to find mentor(s).

Overview: Drupal on Enterprise Service Bus will provide a UI to an Enterprise Service Bus such as ActiveMQ or MuleESB or GlassFish and will provide Drupal access to said ESB without forking Drupal Core.

Description: Drupal is not a stand-a-lone player and as is popularity increases in business/enterprise applications including business intelligence, e-commerce, intranets and ERP so does the need for integrations. DoESB will help focus such "one-off" efforts to the assembly line of a common ESB with much lower entry barriers. The applicant is currently pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science, has participated in Drupal based website implementations, is a member of the EFF, FSF and IEEE, and is a true believer of the public commons importance.

Drupal for Online Enterprise

Hi Everyone:

So I know of some well-known organizations and companies who are using Drupal for their community child sites and/or primary sites. However, I am just curious to know of some particular enterprise sites that are 1) using Drupal and 2) may have a user population anywhere from 500 - 10,000+. I'm trying to compile a list to show that Drupal can be used to archive information secure for a large online and active audience.

Thanks.

Companies using Drupal for business-critical functions?

Hi everyone,

My company is in the process of choosing a solution for replatforming our main site, which is going to be a pretty big project. We're using Drupal for a smaller, simpler publishing site, and Drupal is now on the table for the main site. Some of the other stakeholders have asked what I think is a perfectly valid question that I don't have a ready answer for, so I'm hoping some of you can help me with this one: Are there any medium- to large-sized businesses using Drupal for their main revenue-producing sites?
