Will there be an install profile for departments?
First of all, kudos to the IQSS Team at Harvard for such an amazing Product!
My concern: I read somewhere on the internets (don't remember where) that an install profile for university departments is in the making and that it will probably be released in autumn 2010. Is any of this correct?
I ask, because I'm evaluating OpenScholar for the website of a university affiliated research institute. The current install profiles don't seem to lend themselves well to such an endeavour because of all the vsite stuff that comes along with it.

Hello friends!
I hear at the acquia webinar that OpenScholar planing to integrate some university functional.
I discussed few projects for universities and large medical centers and I think that such sites need microsites with own spaces and features for faculties or departments.
I decided to built this system. I think this system could be very expected, because it meets requirments of large communities. Imagine community of some association with main site and many microsites of organizations who make this community.
Online Education for Drupal
University business students learning Drupal
I run an intensive IT program for university business students (in accounting, marketing. management, etc.). The program has special IT courses, plus project work for companies.
I plan to move the program towards Drupal (currently pure MS tech). I'm looking for suggestions. There's a longer post at http://drupal.org/node/812754.

Hi Everyone,
Here is a presentation I gave at the Berkeley Drupal User Group on Tuesday, and also will be delivering tonight at the South Bay LAMP meetup. It is basically a walkthrough on design and architecture decisions into current practices here at SF State.
Constructive criticism is welcome and encouraged. Also, it's in Powerpoint format but I made it on Ubuntu using OO Impress, so let me know if there are weird formatting issues.

Here are a few examples shared at DrupalConSF, these are still in dev and not in a production environment. Also we are working on overall performance:

Read moreNode Access by Menu Position -- Does this exist, or should we build it (and can it be built)?
A client of ours -- a university -- has quite an extensive hierarchical menu structure. They want the ability to take a top-level menu item, such as "Current Students" and control which roles can manage (create/edit/delete, based on their role's permissions under admin/user/permissions) and view the content under that section. Permissions should cascade down to sub-items in the tree unless explicitly overridden. They also need to then restrict access to adding new pages underneath menu items they do not have access to.
Here's a mock-up that describes what we're after, since it's easier than me explaining. :) Also, I should point out that this is for Drupal 6.

A quick browse through many public-facing websites at the University of Prince Edward Island reveals a growing trend: UPEI has been converting many of its existing websites to Drupal.

Welcome to the group! I recently launched a new website for the Rice University Student Association (at 4 am this morning - fun) and I plan on launching a Drupal site to replace the aging website of my residential college, Jones College. The idea to create a place for Drupal campus web developers to exchange ideas popped into my head a few minutes ago - and here you are!
I'd love feedback on the SA website - especially criticisms!
