I recently attended DrupalCon Barcelona, where I floated the idea to the Drupal Association Board of having a DrupalCon in the Los Angeles area in the Spring of 2009. To make this happen, we would need at least four people who would be willing to commit a significant amount of time and energy between now and the event.

If you are interested in working on this, please speak up. If there is sufficient interest, I will put together an organizing meeting where we can start planning a proposal.

I have already made exploratory contact with potential sponsors.

Here are some reports from DrupalCon Barcelona!

• We had representatives of uk/nl, hungary, be, indybay & beirut imc present -- the conference as a whole had almost 450 people. of course we also met up with local barcelona techies who do use drupal -- they were just too busy to make it to drupalcon so we met up at a hacklab ;)

• The new Drupal 6, CCK, Views, FormAPI, Panels, etc. will be awesome -- but not without your help ;) as always you can help with user interface suggestions, documentation, testing, etc. etc.

At Drupalcon we had a brainstorming BOF with Alberto to learn as much as possible from the experiences of the Barcelona team. During that meeting I made a mindmap, I reorganised the concepts that we discussed and added some things I thought were missing. Check out the schedule of conferences for our next Drupalcon Barcelona 2007. We have 84 conferences on a variety of topics, from showcases to API workshops, for any type of Drupal user, from evaluator to core programmer.

Any one can find a topic of interest at any time. There will be 4 rooms which can hold from 70 to more than 200 people plus 7 special spaces for BoFs. Any attendee will be able to propose a Bof at any time.

I would be very interested in a workshop session at DrupalCon on relationships. I think there are many people working in this area, and I would really like to know where we all are.

I have been building some "social mapping" sites over the last year, and have many lessons to share. (http://nm-x.com and http://www.l-atlas.net are some examples) I would also like to perhaps find a group to collaborate on actually building the relationship api we have been talking about for who knows how long.

I registered a drupalcon session. Maybe, we can get it scheduled and have a chat ?
