Changes to e-Commerce

Hi,

Over the past couple of weeks I have been getting a few of the same questions and I thought that post a little on this and explain what is going to be happening with the next release of e-Commerce.

Basically the have been "Where is module xyz?"

Well the answer is that it is not going to be in the e-Commerce core anymore. With the exception of 2 modules there are going to be no more or less modules in e-Commerce core.

iDEal payment api

Zoals op de DrupalJam beloofd, een generiek iDeal project. Tijdens een korte meeting bleek de interesse voor een centrale iDeal plek binnen Drupal gewenst.

http://drupal.org/project/ideal_payment_api

e-Commerce v4.x-beta3 for Drupal 6.x has been released.

There have been a lot of bug fixes as well as the a complete rewrite of the checkout. The checkout ATM is only a single page and options like changing address and payment type have not been put back in. These are going to use the #ahah feature of the new formapi to allow users to change much easier. I am going to put back multi page checkouts, but this will be done by configuration and not be forced on the site admin.

The checkout api has completely changed and is now much more modular and should allow for much better formed functions.

The Future of E-commerce

First of all, thanks to Mike for starting up this group. : )

I want to think about this more in the future, but I thought I'd send out an initial ping as something I want to address in Ubercart beginning with Drupal 7. Basically, my question is what is the future of e-commerce in a semantic web? How can e-commerce change and evolve as we move forward?

E-Commerce solution for small property website

Hi there,

I am looking for a (or the) simple (simpler) solution to implement a basic E-commerce facility in my little property website see http://www.Mega-Quick-Sale.co.uk

The idea is simple, I will receive leads from people who want to sell their property quickly and I will try to resell these leads to property investors (note I don't buy or sell properties just leads). I am considering using auctions to sell the leads to the highest bidders.

Multiple Variants on one "line"

We’re considering Drupal E-commerce as a (multi-staged) solution for our e-commerce site, and I have a question about how it handles variants, and if anyone is available to do some guidance-offering or possible consulting.

(Sorry, this is long.)

Currently, we’re managing our product and website content through a system of point-of-sale data, access tables, spreadsheets, and text files. We process all this data together and export it to our shopping cart solution (uniteu).

Status of v4

Well we have been working hard and v4 is is starting to look really good. Most of the new features have been added, but we still have a few to go before we can call it done, and Drupal 6 is getting closer and closer, but it does depend on a few contributed modules to be completed before it can be released.

I am still confident that we have have of v4 before Drupal 6 is released.

Three Areas for Improvement

Well, my optimism toward eC4 is waning. There are three areas that still need to be developed to work for the project I'm designing:

1) Affiliate Management

Gordon's indicated that this feature, supplied by eC Commissions, has been postponed. Is there a timeline for completion of this feature?

2) PayPal Subscriptions

Again, Gordon says the feature, through ec Recurring, has been postponed. Again, a timeline?

3) PayPal Buy Now

The trouble (for me) with the cart paradigm is that it makes the order process for a single downloadable item very cumbersome:
