We had the (we think) first-ever Baton Rouge meetup for the Louisiana Drupal Users Group on Thursday, November 4 at The Pastime in downtown Baton Rouge. bberlin, jeffdiecks and schmook attended.

We discussed growing the group the old fashioned way, by each attempting to bring a friend to a future meetup and beginning to create some consistency and momentum behind the group. We noted that New Orleans likely missed out on a very real opportunity to host DrupalCon 2012 due to the lack of a strong local Drupal community.

As my friends, family, co-workers in Boston (at Acquia), and some of my (now) co-members of this group know, I have decided to move from Boston to Chattanooga in the near future. That said, I'm now ready to begin actively dialogging with members of this group about starting a semi-regular Chattanooga Drupal meet-up group. I will be working remotely for Acquia until the end of December, but beginning in January, I will actually be looking for work.

We are continuing to keep our meetup open to remote users. To participate, all you have to do is send me a skype message stating that you want to join the meeting before the meetup begins (we start around 7pm). My id is hectoriribarne. We share our desktop via Yugma (https://www.yugma.com/products/yugmase-skype-edition.php), since Skype can only share a desktop between two users. We may use team viewer (http://www.teamviewer.com) next time, because I am not sure Yugma lets you pass control of the desktop to another user with the free version.

Hello all,

I'm a new user of Drupal and, probably like everyone else, I have a big idea. But first I need to know how to use Drupal better.

I bought the "Dummies Drupal" book and it was o.k. I'm currently reading the "Front End Drupal: Designing, Theming, Scripting" book by Emma Jane Hogbin and Konstantin Kafer.

Though I like books, they can be either too slow or too hard core.

Do you all get toghter at times? Chatting with someone and seeing something done on a computer in front of me helps more than just stumbling about.

I am interested in organizing a monthly NH Drupal Group meetup in Portsmouth.

Q: Why? We already have one in Manchester?
A: Because there is a strong web development community in the seacoast area that would benefit from a local meetup, and because Portsmouth is a groovy town!

Q: When and How Frequently?
A: Since the Manchester Meetup is held on Thursday I would like to shoot for a Monday or Tuesday night meetup to accommodate folks that are busy on Thursday nights (myself included).

Q: Where?

This is a friendly reminder that Tuesday's meeting will feature two presentations on How to install Drupal and How to use Drush. These will be ideal for those who want to know how to get started with Drupal and also those who know Drupal and want to manage their sites more efficiently.

We've been talking about this for a long time now, but we're FINALLY scheduling a cooperative event to develop the Drupal Indy Website. This event was initially scheduled for August 28, but has been rescheduled for September 18th. It will be from 1-4(ish)

The goals of this site is to provide a resource for the local community, promote local companies with Drupal sites, and promote local talent. With this in mind, here's what we came up with for the project spec from our weekly meetings.
