theming

There's been quite a lot of request for a Zen theming session (http://drupal.org/project/zen) so wanted to know if this is something that most of you will be keen to come along to? if there is enough people that wish to attend, i'll see what can be done, ie:

• A date most of you can attend
• A free venue to host the session or any company wanting to sponsor this event.

I've (not so) recently published two videos on how I intend to make D7 easier on the newbies.

I focus on two key aspects: getting Drupal up and running and making Drupal look like your own.

though they have been viewed a few times now - and tagged accordingly, I hope - it had slipped my mind to divulge them here ¬¬

This is my first time converting theme..This is Joomla to Drupal.

And now Im stuck..

I have no idea how to theming the Block title.

The block title looks plain. I want the Block title to be in the "BlockTitleHere".

Using <?php print $block->subject ?> also not works

if it would help, for the next theme meet, i could contribute discussions on the following:

• theming in views2 - 10-15 mins,
• an introduction to jquery and cool theming stuff (poss. also talk about the jquery cycle plugin and how it'll make your life better) 15-20 mins,
• and maybe - just maybe - an introduction to using the 960 theme in drupal - 15-20 mins

all lengths are approximate, so, any particular favourites?

The Acquia Marina theme uses icons in blocks, which presented an interesting challenge for contributing on drupal.org, since all files must be GPL licensed (PS. the PSD files for Marina are now available for download in our group). Creative Commons licenses don't cut it, which tends to be what icon designers go with when they decide to make free icons available.

This post acts as a reference to drupal theming.

Basically there is one choice as far as theming is concerned, you should choose whether you will start from scratch or you will install a 'ready' theme and customize it a bit to your preferences. This part will cover the second choice while the first choice will be covered in part 2. I must state again that this tutorial will act as a reference and only.

I am personally fond of choosing a theme where basically only the layout structure exists in its css.I am aware of two such themes.

I think these attempts have failed due to lack of funding, support and clear organization. I want to get the ball rolling on this. Please reply with your ideas and comments. Here are my ideas I'm tossing around.

Over at the Drupal event organizing group there is a discussion about having a separately branded themercon in Paris.

Is there interest for this? Since there is so much energy in this group, maybe there are people who want to chime in and offer help to the Paris organizers?

Libraries new to Drupal often wonder where to begin with finding a theme for their website. If you are planning to customize a theme, there are several starter themes that will give you a basic layout along with many of the dreaded cross browser CSS fixes. Choosing one of these starter themes can still be daunting.

Luckily I found a fantastic chart that compares the features of most of them.
