Immediately following the IRC meeting, we will be holding weekly office hours in IRC for two hours! The main goal of office hours is to help mentor and empower new contributors to become regular Media contributors.

DrupalCamp Gothenburg - Media sprint
The Drupal company Nindev has kindly offered to host a Media Sprint the day after the DrupalCamp Gothenburg. Thank you so much.
Initial pre-sprint planning:
- Discuss what to work on on the sprint here
- Meet up for an hour or at the Camp the day before to finalize sprint plan
- Get dirty working on things at the sprint
It will be possible to both attend in person and virtually via the #drupal-media IRC channel.

The Media initiative will be holding an in-person and virtual sprint at the Drupal Developer Days in Barcelona.
Planned dates are June 15th-17th, possibly also 18th.

What are the goals of the Media initiative?
- Foster discussion, cooperation, coordination, and support of media of files in core, Media module, File entity, and the various sub-modules that integrate with Media.
- Help encourage end users and companies to invest time and support back into the Media project.
DrupalCon Denver 2012 - Media Initiative Sprint
The Media initiative will be holding an in-person and virtual sprint the Friday after DrupalCon Denver.
We will probably be split up into several different concurrent tasks:
- 1.0 blocker issues
- 2.x issues and test cases
- Drupal core issues
- Documentation

Media Initiative goals needed due to D8 feature freeze Dec 1
Dries announce today, http://buytaert.net/drupal-8-code-freeze-december-1st-2012, that December 1st is feature freeze for Drupal 8.
That is in 9.5 months and if we are going to have a good chance of getting much needed file and media management into core, then we need to start working on what the goal is.
I'm not a coder, but I hardly believe it is as simple as just moving for example the File Entity module to /core/modules. Especially considering that when it is in core and 8.0 is out, very little will change.
