The University of Minnesota Drupal User Group works to share knowledge and resources, find solutions to shared challenges, and enable effective use of Drupal at University of Minnesota campuses across Minnesota. Staff, students, and faculty are all welcome here.
We will strive to be a bridge, not a silo, and encourage participation and sharing with others in our communities, be they geographical (Twin Cities at g.d.o) or professional (Higher Education).
Enjoy Drupal: Site Building Basics
We're going to introduce the core building blocks in Drupal, provide information about local Drupal service providers, and introduce the local Twin Cities DUG and other ways to get involved with Drupal.
Learn how to build your first Drupal website from the ground up through interactive, lecture-based instruction and practical real-world examples. A full day training consisting of progressive beginner topics in the morning (content creation, content types, fields & views) followed by mentored advanced topics and feature building in the afternoon.

This month, our presenter will be John Starr from UMN OIT. John will have the latest on the enterprise Drupal initiative here at the University. In particular, he will focus on the structure used to dovetail central management of security updates and core configuration with site-level flexibility and custom code.
He will also have more general updates about the progress of the project, and we expect there to be some time for questions as well.

The first part of next week looks like a busy one for people working on various aspects of the central Drupal platform at the University of Minnesota. Our originally-planned presenter will be dealing with on-site meetings with vendors, and a good number of our group will be as well.
With that in mind, I'm inclined to cancel the Drupal User Group meeting scheduled for this time slot. If there is interest, however, in organizing around a suggested topic, we do have 101 Walter reserved for use.

Our next UMN Drupal Users meeting will be at Room 140 of Nolte Center, from noon to 1pm on Wednesday, September 25th. Currently, the agenda is fairly open. I would like to devote some time to discussing areas of interest for the upcoming year, including what topics people are interested in learning more about or presenting to the group. We could also use some time for general Q & A, or to discuss approaches toward using Drupal to address to a particular challenge.

Registration is now open for DrupalCamp Twin Cities, July 18-21st, held at the University of St. Thomas in Minneapolis, MN. http://2013.tcdrupal.org
We're very excited about this year's DrupalCamp. We have a record number of sessions submissions, some really excellent keynote speakers, and the best DrupalCamp parties in the country. Before camp the University of MN is hosting a weeklong Accessibility testing of Drupal 8 and we have Accessibility, Twig, Media and Core sprints happening after the camp.

DrupalCon Portland is up and running. There are a number of TC Drupal regulars here in rainy Portland soaking up lots of great Drupal knowledge and ideas. To make sure that we can come back and share this with everyone, we've moved the meetup (which would have happened tonight) to NEXT Wednesday the 29th from 7-9. Check out the meetup event post by clicking on our group site's new Events tab -- http://groups.drupal.org/twin-cities/events. Also consider coming to the new Community Lab Hours session from 5-7 on the same night, same location, right before the meetup.

Greetings, UMN Drupal folks!
Join us for our March meeting this Tuesday, the 26th. We will focus on using Drupal in the managed virtual server environment available through OIT. The 'swadm' environment brings some specific challenges, and those familiar with other Linux environments (like Debian/Ubuntu) will notice other differences. So bring your questions and knowledge to share. We'll have at least one server available with Drupal already up and running.
