We are building a highly innovative framework that integrates Drupal sites with touch tone phones, SMS and Internet-telephony systems.
Our goal is to create a voice-over-internet-protocol (VoIP) platform that interoperates with existing VoIP PBX implementations (Asterisk, FreeSwitch, Tropo, Twilio and others) to provide Drupal users with the ability to, among other things:
* Record, send and receive audio messages
* Create and manage audio groups
* Add audio events to a shared calendar
* Organize phone-based polls
* Send meeting reminders
* Collect stories
* Broadcast emergency announcements
* And much more!
VoIP Drupal will change the way you interact with Drupal, your phone and the web! Join our LinkedIn group and learn more about VoIP Drupal at the VoIP Drupal project page, the VoIP Drupal Handbook and the demo site.
If you have any pressing questions, please leave them here or get online support at #drupal-voip (FreeNode IRC). Our IRC Office Hours are usually on Wednesdays @ Noon EST.

Join us in this hands-on session to learn about the internal workings of the VoIP Drupal platform and create your first Drupal site that makes and receives phone calls.
What: A hands-on introduction to the VoIP Drupal platform
Date: April 23, 2011 @ 1pm-3pm EST

* Representatives from companies, governments and non-profits that either use are considering using Drupal
I need a way to route callers for a small office setting to pre recorded information.
It would be "to hear about X press 1, to hear about y press 2" type of call for now.
It seems this would be simple with VOIP Drupal but I do not know how to create the script.
If anyone has worked on this, would like to work on it together, or has other ideas let me know.Read more
Leo and Owen and everyone who has worked on VoIP Drupal, thank you for your work and I think this is an exciting development. I am not a professional web site developer and all my experience is with Drupal, with a few looks at books on php and mysql. I have set up the Twilio account.
First a most basic question, should script writers be focused on VoIP Drupal script language, and not the Twilio documentation?Read more
I tried a simple script based on the documentation. http://drupal.org/node/1079360
$prompt = 'Please enter your phone number after the beep';
$script->addSay("You typed %input_digits");
It asks me for the number and then gives the response "We're sorry, an application error has occurred."
It gives the same result for the sample weather report script, it allows me to enter a zip code and then gives the same error message.Read more
Attended the first BOF at Drupal Conn but was unable to attend the hands on training session. Is it possible to get the materials? I have installed the module and set it up with Twilio (very simple process). Have written a couple of simple scripts and am looking for some more advanced samples. Also how can I gain access to the "built-in" scripts?
BTW - this is an awesome module, thanks for all the effort.

Here is the footage of last week's VoIP Drupal announcement at DrupalCon Chicago 2011:
The video provides background information about the VoIP Drupal initiative, describes the overall organization and roadmap of the project, and concludes with potential applications of the platform.
Thanks so much to the VoIP Drupal team, to CivicActions, and to everyone who provided constructive feedback throughout this journey. We are now looking for partners to test VoIP Drupal, contribute code, and make sure it lives up to its expectations!Read more
What is voipextension - required for module Voip Script UI - web-based interface for developers to create and test VoIP Drupal scripts
I have installed VOIP Drupal and linked it to a Twilio account. Thanks for the detailed handbook. http://drupal.org/node/1078710
I set Pickup script to voip_weather_report and it does answer when a call is received (though it does not provide the weather report, think I need to install something for it to work).
I would like to try creating a script and within Site Building - Modules there is VoIP Drupal - Voip Script UI which is described as:

VoIP Drupal is going to have a strong presence at DrupalConChicago 2011!
In particular, we will be organizing the following talks and sessions:
* on Tuesday (3/8), an Ignite Talk at 4:30pm at the Day Stage
* On Wednesday (3/9), a BoF session about the VoIP Drupal foundations - VoIP Drupal - Wed 9 March 10th, 12:00pm - 13:00pm in Colorado room
We have just put together a little "sandbox site" to release news about VoIP Drupal and let people play with the main features of the platform: http://voipdrupal.org/.
We will be adding tons of features to that site in the next couple of weeks. In the meanwhile, it would be great if you could spend some time there, try the tools and give us your feedback.

It is with great pleasure that I would like to announce the first release of the VoIP Drupal platform: http://drupal.org/project/voipdrupal!
VoIP Drupal is an innovative framework that brings the power of voice and Internet-telephony to Drupal sites.
VoIP Drupal can be used to build hybrid applications that combine regular touchtone phones, web, SMS, Twitter, IM and other communication tools in a variety of ways, including:Read more
I have been reading the posts in the group, and they are very interesting, though I am still not clear with regards to the route to take. I was hoping to get some feedback from an expert in this area.
We are currently in the process of adding an interactive telephony and SMS portion to our site.
Telephone wise, we would like to initiate a call to a specific user, based on Drupal triggers and have the person respond to the questions we send out by pressing on the phone keys. At that point we would want to add that information to the user's record.Read more
The MIT Center for Future Civic Media is hiring an experienced Drupal developer to work part-time as a contractor on the Voip Drupal platform.
Voip Drupal is a novel open source platform that makes it easier for Drupal developers to build websites that literally make and receive phone calls. In particular, Voip Drupal provides a common API and scripting system that interoperate with existing VoIP PBX implementations (Asterisk, FreeSwitch, Twilio, etc) providing Drupal users with the ability to, among other things:Read more

This past Tuesday (4/20) we organized a birds-of-a-feather session at DrupalCon SF 2010. It was awesome to see so many people interested in the integration of Drupal with internet telephony!
Here are the slides used in the presentation:
Now we are looking for volunteers, partners and funders. Comments and suggestions are very welcome!
We're organizing a Voip Drupal birds-of-a-feather session at Drupal Con SF 2010.
WHEN: April 20th, 2:45-3:45pm PST
WHAT: As part of this meetup, we would like to:
- Get to know people who are interested in enriching Drupal sites with Voip features (voicemail, audio blogging, etc.) and in making web services available via regular touchtone phones;
- Introduce the motivation, architecture and current implementation of the Voip Drupal platform;
- Brainstorm about potential applications and next steps of the project
I wonder if anyone can advise me. I'm interested in establishing a private VOIP to VOIP call between 2 parties, and allowing them to collaborate on my Drupal website. Does anyone have an idea of a way I could do this, while allowing my Drupal website to record call start, duration, and end details?
Hope you can help.
I thought it would be very helpful if I would bring it up here.
Our situation is that we are moving a large, multi-user knowledge management Portal into private beta. While we wish to have a "live" version of the site, with content creation, file upload , image upload and addition etc, we wish to maintain active development on several aspects of functionality.Read more
