An open group formed to share and discuss Drupal-specific web management and content editing issues, for dual purposes:
-
To help each other solve issues we face as web managers and content editors
-
To formalize the solutions reached for eventual addition to Documentation and/or Support areas of Drupal.org
This is a discussion group for content editors and web site managers. Unrelated job postings will be removed
Adding Facebook icon to banner in Corporate Clean
I am using corporate clean theme.
I am using this for developing website.
How do i add blocks in banner area? In banner area i need to add one facebook icon along with other text.
Check out Karen Borchert's article: A Code-Free Explanation of Drupal Distributions
For an excellent discussion about what makes a distribution, as opposed to an installation profile, check out Karen Borchert's scrumptious article: A Code-Free Explanation of Drupal Distributions on The Agile Approach blog.
I never really understood the difference, and mixed up the terms on occasion. Karen gives us a great illustration, showing the differences, as well as a food metaphor that's a lot of fun.

For the past few days, we've been discussing FAQs.
Should they be rewritten as About XYZ page? Are they fine, as is. Do questions rate higher in search? Etc.
So I wondered what your experience is with FAQs on your sites? So you use them? How often? Do you rewrite them? What's your experience?

Recently worked on a project where the everyone kept saying, "the client will write the content" or "we'll get to content when the site is done". I suspected this was a recipe for disaster and it was. If you depend on the client to write content to essentially "finish" the site it will never be completed.
Read moreImproving the layout of our Group home page
Hi everyone,
I would love to modify the layout of the Web Manager's group page. I'd model it on the Prairie Initiative group page layout.
I'll share my ideas and would like yours in return... as well as a volunteer to help me make the views, especially if you have admin rights on groups.drupal.org and a good understanding of creating views.
So here's what I think would work well:
Left column (sidebar A):
Mission statement (now in orange) of the group
Group polls
Group events
Group jobs
Center column:
"Sticky at top" discussions
SEO: Do you add modules for Page Titles, Descriptions, Keywords, etc. in your Drupal sites?
In the Drupal 6 site I managed, we used the Page Titles and Nodewords modules to allow easy addition of search engine friendly page titles, etc. I'd like to hear your experience with these modules, others or without extra SEO modules. And if you're already working with Drupal 7, I'd love to hear any differences you find. Especially whether RDF-a support changes your approach to SEO.

Hello all...
I wanted to take the time to introduce myself, and I am new to the Drupal Atlanta Group.
My name is Paul Abell, and I am an Atlanta based sports and entertainment photographer; I am not a developer, so I hope I am not asking too much of anyone here.
As a photographer, I am looking for a better way to showcase my work and hopefully generate better SE results. After a lot of thought, I am looking to create a base Drupal site... As it stands now, I want to keep my Livebooks based portfolio which I have setup up as a subdomain: http://portfolio.abellimages.com.

Read moreDefining Web Managers and Content Editors
This is somewhat random, but there's a concept I picked up from Microsoft training a few years ago that may be useful here.
They define tiers of support using an IT infrastructure pyramid:
- Tier 1 is support for day-to-day users (help desk operations)
- Tier 2 is systems administration
- Tier 3 is systems engineering
- Tier 4 is architecture (coding)
It occurred to me that Content Editors could fit within the definition of Tier 1 and Web Managers could fit within the definition of Tier 2.
