Geographic scope
The West Midlands Region is a large area of the United Kingdom that encompasses the cities of: Birmingham, Coventry, Stoke-on-Trent and Wolverhampton (among others).
Our aims
To provide a forum for communication, organising events and encouraging Drupal loveliness. Seriously though, we'll hold regular meet-ups to discuss site building, actually do some site building and maybe have a drink or two.

These pages are here to provide resources for the group, for organizing events etc.
Basically we try to document everything that we do, so that things don't depend on any one person.
Currently we've got the following resources written up:
- Event notification guidelines - Essential reading if you're creating events on behalf of the group
- Types of events - Lists the different types of meetups we hold.

Read moreDrupal Multisite??? Shared cck fields???
I'm not sure if this is simple question or not, but I'm a little bit confused.
I am planning on developing 4 drupal sites that are essentially pretty much the same in terms of what they do, they will look different but will more or less do exactly the same job as each other with the odd exception. What I'd like to know is if it is possible to feed the sites from the same database and most importantly can the sites share the same cck fields 'if and when' they are required, or do you need to either share all fields or non at all?

Hoping someone might be able to advise. I'm trying to migrate data from an old site across to my drupal site. Ive pulled the data out from Access (dont ask) and now have it sitting in the drupal mysql database. Ive used table wizard to draw the data out and check it via a view which works nicely however when trying to use Migrate Ive now come un-stuck due to the change to Migrate V2 which has no UI (certainly not for drupal 6 anyway). Im just not upto the level of being able to use migrate v2 comfortably and was hoping someone might be able to point me in a new direction?

It is short notice, but the October meetup of the West Midlands group will be at Aroq Ltd, in Bromsgrove. As with the previous meetings, we'll do introductions, then have a couple of 15 minute presentations (details below), then we'll have time for general discussion. This is in a regular series of meetups.
Directions to Aroq Ltd can be found on their contact page. Please signup, so we can get an idea of how much pizza to get :-)

I only noticed this afternoon that tonight's meeting is cancelled. Personally, I need some way of being notified to sign-up when a new meeting is posted here. Any suggestions?
Read moreDrush & Drush Make on Mac- How to setup and use 'Drush Make'?
Hi everyone
Another question for anyone out there that understands 'Drush Make'.
I have Drush setup (Mac OSX) and am pretty competent in using it. The issue I now have is that I'm a little unsure as to how to get 'Drush Make' working which I require to save time on Drupal site setups. I've looked for videos etc (this is the way that I managed to get Drush running correctly) but have been unable to find a good example that I understand.
Does anyone know of an absolute idiot proof tutorial or perhaps can post an easy to follow guide?
Any help will be much appreciated
Thank you
Read moreHierachical Location Fields
Hi
I'm new to Drupal and have been pulling my hair out now for quite a few days now trying to configure something that I would have imagined to be a very basic requirement.
All I need to figure out is how to create some kind of hierarchical field select system for locations in this instance. For example I have UK Counties (taxonomy), I would then like for arguments sake to select West Midlands and then a second field should dynamically show all the towns in the West Midland's area to enable the user to select one.

Read moreUK Locations - Regions & Cities etc
Hi everyone
I'm new to the group and relatively new to Drupal but am learning quickly.
My main bug-bear at the moment and something that is driving me crazy is how to create a simple user entry whereby they can select from a drop down a UK region and then city (the city drop down should relate to the region if possible). I need this because the whole website is based around user location for survey requirements.

Drupal 7 Release Party
We're having an informal Drupal 7 Party/Networking event for Drupalers in the midlands from 6pm.
It would be great to see what interest there is in the area so that we can plan accordingly. We could for instance setup a laptop/projector and run through some Drupal 7 features. If anyone else wanted to present this would be great too.
Drop me a quick email on http://www.theweborchard.com/contact with any ideas or if you're interested in attending.

It's been far too long. We should have a West Midlands meetup in January.
No idea for dates, times or places. But probably at Computerminds in Coventry one evening would be best/easiest?

I've left it a tad late, but we should probably plan the April meetup of the West Midlands group.
If you're interested in attending could have a look at the possible dates in the doodle poll below, and fill it in when you're free. The venue is tbc, but would be wherever is closest/easiest for the attendees.
