The Santa Cruz Drupal User's Group is looking to connect Drupal users in and around Santa Cruz, California.
We have a budding tech community in Santa Cruz. One factor in our tech growth is the use of Drupal at several local web shops, start-ups, and organizations. Drupal use at UC Santa Cruz is also growing and it's time we all got together to share knowledge and learn from each other.
We (almost always) meet on the first Tuesday of each month, at 7pm. Meetings are free and held at NextSpace at 101 Cooper Street in downtown Santa Cruz. All are welcome. Ring the buzzer to get let into the building.
Note - If the meeting day falls on a holiday or during the winter holidays (e.g. January), then we might reschedule or cancel the meeting but there will be a discussion or event here for it.

(WILL BE IN SANTA CRUZ) December Santa Cruz Drupal User Group Meeting - Nextspace 7pm to 9pm (Tuesday Dec 4, 2012)
Hi all!
I just found out that the Silicon Valley Drupal User Group meeting is on December 4th:
http://www.meetup.com/DrupalGroup/events/92129612/
Since I'm doing a migration project right now, the topic:
Best Practices for Drupal: Migration (Data and Versions)
is of great interest to me.
Murias was going to be presenting for our December 4th meeting on slideshows, but I'd like to take a poll to see if there is any interest going over-the-hill for this meeting:

I have a mini-van if a lot of people need rides.

In two days, you will be brought up to speed on Drupal and be ready to tackle their own project. Learn how to manage media, build calendars and complex, dynamic queries of content by selecting and configuring the most popular modules.
This course is suitable both for Drupal users who are new to Drupal and those who want to broaden their Drupal skills. You'll also review Drupal's block system and learn how to use taxonomy to categorize your content.
Read moreDump/list of Drupal modules per project
I find it useful to scan the list of modules other people have used on a project. I can often find one or two new "gems" :) It is hard to find modules on drupal.org (though I've been recently trying to follow the new module releases on twitter). And, of course, we do find out the latest-greatest modules via Camps and Cons.
Anyway... this is an easy exercise. Go to each of your Drupal 7 projects and list out the modules and paste it in a comment... bonus points for telling a little about the project ;)

My foot is still in the cast, so I have been mostly stuck at home on our 2nd floor. I've got a little project to do for a friend's firefighters union. I took some of my free time to do something I knew was possible but hadn't tried to do before.
Before I get into it, please don't tell me how ugly the site is. OTOH, please do feel free to give me some constructive feedback. I'm a programmer, not a graphic artist.

Friends, I'm encountering a permissions problem with a page I build using hook_menu and a custom form. I am not able to access it as an anonymous user. No permissions are required for the page. After hours of debugging, I am thinking it is a black hole permissions problem such as described here:
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2017665/drupal-anonymous-user-permiss...
Wondered if anyone else has encountered this? Do you have any insights to offer me?
Thanks, and have a great weekend.

Hi, Everyone, that was a good meeting last night!
My client in San Francisco asked me today if I know any drupal developers willing to take on a project due in early Dec. They're a design/development agency.
They're a very professional company, working off requirements docs and wireframes and requiring pretty detailed reporting of hours on different tasks of the project.
Please contact me directly if interested.

October Santa Cruz Drupal User Group Meeting - Nextspace 7pm to 9pm (Tuesday Oct 2, 2012)
I almost forgot to post this! We'll be meeting tomorrow night: October 2nd at 7pm at Nextspace.
What should we talk about? Anyone want to present? I'd love someone to demo using Omega+Delta+Context if anyone has done that as an alternative to Panels :) Or, if you know how to do "fancier" stuff with Display Suite (layout within a layout?).
Other topics welcome! Leave a comment...

Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if there might be some time or space available to talk about how to set up a D7 multisite on a localhost. I am running into some issues about thinks I don't quite understand. I am hoping to reschedule an appointment to be to the group meeting at 7, but may not make it til 7:45. Sorry to ask a question and then be late :(
Come to BADCamp 2012! November 1st - 4th
On behalf of the SF Bay Area Drupal community, I want to invite everyone to attend this year's Bay Area Drupal Camp (BADCamp) hosted on the beautiful campus of the University of California at Berkeley from Thursday, November 1st through Sunday, November 4th. Now in its sixth year, BADCamp is the flagship Drupal event of the San Francisco Bay Area and is expected to draw almost 2000 attendees for four days of summits, sessions, sprints, and social events.

Office Space Available
For anyone who might be interested in a small office space, there is one available on the East side of town next to mine. It's about 500 sq ft with its own bathroom and 3 parking spaces. (It's rare to find private offices of this size in SC.) The landlord is great. The rent is reasonable. Just let me know and I'll hook you up offline.
