We're a drupal group servicing the Atlantic Canada region, which includes the provinces of New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia, and Newfoundland.
Why such a large area? Canada, and Atlantic Canada specifically, is a very small population over a very large area. The Atlantic region has a total combined population smaller than many major global cities, with a total population of 2,348,901 as of 2014. We have some amazing people broken up across this vast area, and they are looking for ways to meet, grow, share knowledge and resources.
The primary goal is to share resources and evangelize drupal to those who may be looking for a CMS of choice, or for developers who are looking for more than their current CMS solution provides.
Secondarily, we are looking to promote Drupal usage for those entering the web development, and site-building world, and get them considering drupal as part of their toolset, while also encouraging best practices and methodologies.
I'm looking to contract an experienced freelance Drupal developer to assist with migrating a Drupal 6 site to Drupal 7 (or possibly 8). I am a library and information management consultant with experience building Drupal sites but I'm not a PHP programmer or developer, so I need assistance with module and backend development and the developer I usually work with is unavailable.Read more

Lots of things happening behind the scenes!
This group is no longer under moderation. It has been officially released and now will show up in groups listings and public search (see the issue here: https://www.drupal.org/node/2729379).
This group needs to grow, so if you know anyone in the Atlantic region who is interested in Drupal, or might be considering it, please link them here.
I have been hard and work planning some ideas for how the group will move forward. One of the first things is I've been working on a v1 logo (attached)
I created a BoF at DrupalCon https://events.drupal.org/neworleans2016/bofs/drupal-canada
I am hoping to try and bring together more folks from Canada and rally the troops for getting more people involved in the DrupalNorth initiative.
With an inaugural success last year in Toronto we are continuing to build momentum with this years DrupalNorth in Montreal (http://www.drupalnorth.org/). I want to build it to be even bigger for when we celebrate it's 3rd anniversary in conjunction with Canada's 150th Anniversary, as we host DrupalNorth 2017 in Ottawa.Read more
Just as a quick note, I've updated and rewrote the description. Continuing, I am hoping to build a great community of Atlantic Canadian Drupal people here, so please invite your friends, and let's build this up into something great!
I will be starting up some recurring threads of information to spur creativity and discussion. Feel free to do the same!Read more
