Question about computed fields + user-reference module (D7)

I'm struggling to come up with tidy little snippet for a computed field to interact with the user reference module.

The big picture:

  • I use profiles for Department Faculty so that they can log in and manage their own info.
  • In order to link content types I want to associate with a particular faculty person (say, a book section), I add the user reference field.
  • I find it handy to sort by the faculty member's last name, so I want the computed field module to pull the value from the user-reference field and trim it.

Working with CAS Attributes at UC Berkeley

I'm hoping some of you who have experiencing using CAS and CAS Attributes on UC Berkeley sites can help me with a couple questions about ideal setup:

I've got the modules set up and can see LDAP attributes, but there aren't any available CAS attributes. Is that normal? I'm using auth-test.berkeley.edu and ldap-test.berkeley.edu.

Also, what's the best way to deal with the fact that you don't always get an email address in the LDAP attributes? Do you just leave the user email field blank when new accounts are created? (Or maybe there's an email in my missing CAS attributes?)

Thanks!

Joomla help needed

I know this is a strange request in a Drupal group, but I'm not sure where to look for a Joomla expert in this area, and BDUG is a group I trust. I have a friend who runs a local non-profit who needs help with their Joomla site. Their site has apparently been hacked, and I have no idea how to help. I believe that some of the configuration or template files have been compromised on the server. I think they've been convinced to migrate the site to Drupal in the near future, but in the meantime, they could use some help fixing the immediate problem.

Summer is over, except in the Bay Area where we have summer at the end of summer - so confusing - but one thing remains true: DRUPAL IS EVERYWHERE.
We are changing up the group format a little going forward and streamlining the content presentations so we can have more time for the meet-and-greet with other members.   I want to foster more discussion between users at SFDUG I hope this will help.

This month I have members from EBAY and Acquia coming to discuss why Drupal was used for their developer site http://www.x.com ;

berkeley-drupal@googlegroups.com reopened for discussion

About a year ago members of the Berkeley Drupal Users Group suggested retiring berkeley-drupal@googlegroups.com and encouraging all conversation to move to http://groups.drupal.org/berkeley. The idea was to consolidate conversations. The result has been: less conversation. It can be very difficult to get your settings on groups.drupal.org to send you new postings from the Berkeley group. For this reason we are reopening berkeley-drupal@googlegroups.com for conversation.

BDUG: 8/23 12-1:30pm Andre Angelantoni on Apache Solr and Drupal

Start:
2011-08-23 12:30 - 13:00 America/Los_Angeles
Organizers:
Event type:
User group meeting

One of the most powerful enhancements you can make to a Drupal site is to replace Drupal's out-of-the-box search functionality with Apache Solr (http://lucene.apache.org/solr/). On first look this may seem like a daunting task because it requires access to a server running Solr. However the best of breed Drupal hosting options (like http://getpantheon.com and http://acquia.com) give your site access to a Solr server by default. At that point you only have to install the Drupal Solr module (http://drupal.org/project/apachesolr) and do some light configuration to unleash the power of Solr.

Drupal User Groups in California

About this page

This is a list of the known Drupal user groups in California. Here are some of the things that can be done with this information:

  • It is now much easier to find the California groups you'd like to join. Just click the name of the group you want to join and click the "Join" link in the sidebar of that group's page.
  • If you are creating a new group in California, list it here to let others know about it.
  • Depending on how #1074208 (Add a location field to group node) goes, a California-specific map showing the user groups can be created using this information (e.g. a Google map with markers showing the locations of all the groups and their meetups)
  • Add your ideas here!
