Design for Drupal is about bringing the community of designers together to be a part of the Drupal community. It’s about enabling designers and themers to do great stuff, coordinate efforts, come up with crazy ideas, and build a movement to make Drupal beautiful.

Join us in the creation of a unique look for your Drupal website. We'll guide you through the whole process of creating a theme, from a mockup to a launch-ready Drupal theme. In addition to theming challenges unique to Drupal, we'll cover the latest Web standards and their challenges: CSS 3 and HTML 5. Depending on the needs and interests of participants, we can also touch on some more advanced topics (for example, "sprites," or a brief introduction to mobile theming).
Please note that this training is offered in French, though some resources or materials may be proposed in English. An English-language course may be organised later in the year, depending on interest.

Stop making base themes and start developing installation profiles!
Themes section is full of very powerfull and configurable themes.
This is very helpfull if you are building a big website with complex functionality but most of us just want to develop something that's already out there and be able to slightly alter it to bend our needs.
I'm suggesting to leave the abstract website developing strategy driven by base themes and start by picking a case study and make it work.
It will save us time and will help new users to dive in.
So...
1.Pick a case study
2.Install required modules
3.Build custom content types base on the entities requiried
