New Core Themes Needed
March 14, 2009 was a big day for drupal. That's the day all of the core themes except Garland and Stark were removed from drupal. Drupal 7 is currently only shipping with 2 core themes and one of them is meant to show off what drupal looks like with almost no theme styling. So, we need some new core themes.
This is an invitation to designers and themers to create some new beautiful core themes for drupal. If you're a designer who isn't very good at turning a design into a theme don't worry. We have experts that can help you with that.
This is our opportunity for us to make drupal look good out of the box.

Proposal - Modern recolorable theme with configurable "styles"
Overview: The purpose of this project is to build an awesome, modern, recolorable theme that can have different "styles" applied in the settings. The theme will also come with an integrated jQuery plugin, a slideshow or carousel/slider that can be configured in the theme settings.
Description: The proposed theme will integrate with the color module, making the color scheme configurable through the theme settings. In the same way that Garland works, users can choose gradient top and gradient bottom colors and see a preview of the theme.

This proposal is designed with following goals in mind:
- Minimal amount of code changed, most of implementation is just reorganization of existing files
- Better visibility for Drupal core templates and CSS
- Clearer separation of functional and aesthetic parts of the theme layer
- Offering several flexible and clear starting points for themers to build their work on
