Welcome
Connecting folks working with issues and challenges that are unique to Drupal in post-secondary academic environments.
History
This group has been founded as a result of DrupalCon San Francisco 2010, when it became obvious that there was a need for a place to extend the fruitful higher education-focused discussions that began there.

Great BoF at DrupalCon New Orleans
Meeting so many other higher ed folks at DrupalCon has been wonderful, and I appreciate the Yale and Georgetown folks who pulled the BoF together yesterday.
I'd really like to continue where we left off and liven this group for further discussions, create a better collection of shared resources and information, and anything else pertaining to the needs and peculiarities inherent in our institutions.
Hopefully we can all save time and aggravation by sharing our successes, tribulations, and seeing that it's not just our own departments that are crazy ;)

Tool Builder - Liberating Innovation via site building
https://www.elmsln.org/blog/post/tool-builder video showing new functionality built into elms that allows for effectively allowing anyone that can site build to submit their idea to our innovations github repo without needing to understand code or version control. This is one of the more ridiculous goals of the project.
We have armies of faculty, instructional designers and site builders throughout the education space. We're seeking to unlock the ability for everyone, without knowledge of code or version control, to be able to contribute their creations.

Just wanted to blast it here as well that I made an accessibility toolkit module which provides a block to help provide ways of improving your site for different visual impairments; most resolving around dyslexia (like a font that makes it easier to read). We also store the setting in a cookie and in the future will do this on the serverside so it doesn't have to reload each time (as the screencast currently shows).
Support, feedback and improvement suggestions always welcome: https://drupal.psu.edu/blog/post/a11y-accessibility-toolkit-module

With 118 issues resolved, ELMS Learning Network version tipping point (0.2.0) is out with a comprehensive walkthrough of capabilities and discussion of what and why the system functions as it does. We now support CentOS 6,7, Ubuntu 14 / Deb, and Amazon AMI one-line installations. The walkthrough in this post just scratches the surface as we have 2 types of asset management systems with H5P support built in as well as support for LTI 1.2 (provider), REST (shown, and powers everything), and XAPI support it's a great preview of things to come.

Dear All,
Read moreDrupalCamp @ Stanford
The Stanford Drupal Camp is a two-day event to discuss and learn about Drupal, an open-source content management system that powers thousands of websites at Stanford, and millions of websites beyond.
This year, the Stanford Drupal Camp emphasizes introductory sessions focused on content strategy as well as thought-provoking sessions for researchers in academia. Those new to Drupal and Content Strategy will be particularly interested in the events on Friday, whereas experienced Drupallers (yes, we spell it with two "L"s at Stanford) may be more interested in Saturday's program.
Read moreTeaching business information systems with Drupal
Hey,
Most business schools have an information systems course for all business majors (marketing, accounting, HR, ...). The goal is to help students understand how businesses use IT.
Many intro BIS courses use MS Access and Excel, if they use s/w at all.
I've created a BIS course that uses Drupal 8. It's at https://bis.cybercour.se/ . Open for all.
It's not a Drupal course per se (though, of course, there's much content on using Drupal). The course uses Drupal as a vehicle for helping students understand typical business information systems.
