Curriculum for Beginners

I have been teaching a class on IT Strategy, Management, and Acquisition using Drupal as the backbone for the past two years at Suffolk University in Boston.

I built some tutorials for students that roughly follow Jacob Redding's book at the beginning. After that they do work on infrastructure management and migration of the site they built to different architectures. If someone is interested, I can share these activities. I attached the syllabus here as a sample.

Drupal courses for beginners girls

Under non-profit organisation Czechitas (czech IT courses for girls) we are going to make another gender-imbalanced weekend course for girls similar to well established RailsGirls.

Are there some tutorials good for beginners weekend courses (like them from RailsGirls)?
Somebody experienced with beginners?
Or some similar events in the world?

Thank you for help :-)

Building Twitter in Drupal in 5min

Is it possible to build something like Twitter in 5min in Drupal?

I did a presentation and ran a Drupal workshop in a university in Peru. For the workshop I asked for suggestions on what we could build in Drupal. My original idea was a Leave Application System. A test run with a few students demonstrated that this was incredibly boring. There was just too much config with the Workflow and Rules module. So thanks to Ryan Cross for the suggestion of building a Twitter clone. This was a hit!

Making Drupal fun?

I’m giving a 6 hour Drupal workshop in a University next week (over 3 days). I need a example Drupal application that can be built in an hour. (In the workshop we’ll do it over 4 hours). I’d like to demonstrate that Drupal is fun and inspire them to learn more. The students are mainly from Computer Science.

Getting Drupal Curriculum into 2,000 high schools in 24 months

I have a goal to get a full semester long Drupal based website design curriculum into 2,000 high schools in the next 24 months. To do this I really need some help from others in the Drupal community.

We launched a KickStarter campaign that will allow us to build a full semester long, high school level website design/development course using Drupal. This will also allow us to offer the course and teacher training at no cost to the school. We only have about a week until it’s over and need some help.

Informal social/meetup for education users/developers attending DrupalCon PDX

Well, it's no BoF or unconference, but at least it's a bit of free food and drink during DrupalCon PDX...

Clarity Innovations (Drupal in education enthusiasts since version 4.7) is hosting an informal meetup/social to celebrate, connect and bond with those of us that use Drupal for all things related to K12 and higher education.

The informal meetup takes place Wednesday (5/22) evening, from 6pm-8pm, at the Burnside Brewing Company, a short walk from the convention center (and conveniently on the way to the Pantheon & New Relic Party just a block away).

Cost: Free! (The first few rounds of drinks and food are on Clarity's tab.)
RSVP: http://www.drupaleducationsocial.eventbrite.com/
I hope to see you there!

Drupal in Education - New Website & Google+ Community

With the use of Drupal growing so rapidly in the Education field and with there being close to 80 people at the Drupacon Denver Education BOF, I think that it is time for us to unite and built a great community where we can all share ideas.

Again we are in the "very" beginning phases of building our community but would really like some input from as many people as possible.

Currently we have a website with just a form to collect information and a Google+ community.

Website: www.drupalined.com
