Here is a very rough start an outline for a 2.0-alpha1 release
The following is a proposal based on conversations with folks working on the Media module and hopes to establish some clarity on what needs to get done to have releasable code. At this time we should probably consider Media 2.0 feature frozen in order to address the major bugs in the issue queue.

I have been using D7 for about 1.5 years and have never been able to to get Media to actually display the media I link to from 3rd parties. I am a musician Drupal User, not a developer and am confused by the media module. The most success I have had is getting the module to output the title of a media Item I put in it as a link.
