Tips for video learning site

Events happening in the community are now at Drupal community events on www.drupal.org.

Has anyone ever done any work on an e-learning type of project? I heard the latest lullabot podcast on drupalize.me, and I have a client that is fed up with their asp site.

Basically they sell video training, with a quiz after each video.

I'm pretty sure I could get the ubercart going fine, but I am looking to see what modules and video work-flow tips anyone can offer.

I am using the quiz module now, and would like to use the video cck field. They don't have the traffic yet to justify ooyala like lullabot did. Video downloads won't work for security reasons.

I've scoured around and of course, there are a myriad of options out there. I am just curious what others have done previously and am looking for a point in the right direction.

We do a lot of Drupal development, but chose Moodle for a recent e-learning site. What a mess that is.

The elms looks interesting,

The elms looks interesting, and I hadn't heard of it. I don't think they quite need what moodle does. It is more a drupalize.me site with very short quizzes after each video.

I'm guessing by your response that moodle maybe would not be a future option?

Yeah

There's a reason why every Moodle site looks the same, it's not very flexible from a UX standpoint. It's basically an open source version of most other LMS' out there (e.g. BlackBoard), which look like crap.

yeah ELMS probably isn't a

yeah ELMS probably isn't a good option for that at the moment. 1 it's way too new and 2 it's going through a pretty substancial redesign based on feedback from alpha 1. As for video we have several ways we handle it in our course systems.

JWplayermodule with some advanced views to turn nodes with fieldfield upload cck fields into playlists.

embedded media module with storage of the videos on youtube or vimeo

Filefield upload with lightbox2 and sometimes the video field module

There really isn't 1 "good" way of doing it. If you're doing it like you mention and building a semi-custom solution I'd recommend using jwplayer as the JS API is pretty advanced and you could rig up things like asking questions at different timestamps in the lecture.

Thanks @btopro and

Thanks @btopro and others.

Right now I have been testing using the quiz module with video upload. I hadn't heard of the jwplayer. The site they want really is pretty simple.

Here are my thoughts right now:

Ubercart or E-Commerce for payment and purchasing
Quiz Module with video integration for questions

Anybody checked out eFront yet?

Has anybody done any level of integration with eFront LMS yet? I really love their LMS. But I need Drupal for a different part of the website.

While they have already integrated Facebook login into the LMS, I needed to have a single sign in for both drupal and eFront parts of the website.

Can any1 please help me with this "common login"?

(Thought I should mention that I am quite a newbie, and have 0 experience with developing anything open source)
