I am beginning the development of an interactive course in computer music production as part of a larger educational research project. I have some experience in Drupal already and I want to capitalise on this and expand my knowledge of the system.
The project does not have a big community element although there will be different user classes i.e. student/educator/admin
The main requirements are:
Students view and educators view - I'm thinking of a 3 column design with nav and course pages for students and an extra column for teachers/facilitators
Quiz/test section for each part of the course with audio.
Overlaid explanation boxes for difficult concepts
Printable pages
Internationalised in 4 languages - English, Italian, French & Spanish
Audio and video demos and examples
Non-linear or linear use - students should be able to "dip in" to a section or follow a pre-defined series of steps and gain useful knowledge either way.
The course is designed to involve students very quickly in the process of creating music with computers. Students can choose from 3 music production software titles (probably Cubase & 2 others) and examples and detailed instructions will be provided for the different stages of the course in these 3 although the overall course is the same.

I've had a look at DrupalEd but my understanding is that it's intended for building educational communities.
Does anyone have experience and examples of building a tutorial using drupal? Any tips appreciated.
This is a European Comission funded project so I will be happy to contribute any knowledge and custom code into the community further down the line.
